Another Top 10 Upset

+ Is Taylor Swift > The Moon?

We had a big upset in college basketball last night, and there were only two games with ranked teams. Letโ€™s take a closer look at that, check out some other scores from other leagues and then find out what we should watch tonight!

Letโ€™s go!

Texas Tech Upsets Kansas, and Bill Self Gets Ejected For Being Upset

๐Ÿ‘‰๏ธ At this point, its just another week of college basketball where a highly ranked team has another unexpected loss. I guess the point is, should we really call it unexpected because, at this point, arenโ€™t we all expecting it?

Here's what happened.

โค๏ธโ€๐Ÿฉน Kansas doesnโ€™t have their Big 12 leading scorer Kevin McCullar Jr. as heโ€™s out with an injury and Dajuan Harris Jr. isnโ€™t 100% as he rolled his ankle on Saturday night.

โ›ˆ๏ธ It was the perfect storm for Texas Tech. Pair the injuries that Kansas is suffering from with a perfect night from Darrion Williams, and youโ€™ve got the recipe for domination. Williams was literally perfect, as he scored a career 30 points while going 12 for 12 shooting. He also grabbed 11 rebounds.

๐Ÿ‘€ All this talk, and we havenโ€™t even shown you a score yet. Itโ€™s not great for Kansas, let me tell you. Texas Tech won this one 79-50.

๐Ÿ˜  Bill Self was visibly angry with the refs after feeling like the officiating was poor. He was ejected with about 6 minutes left in the 2nd half. Itโ€™s the first time heโ€™s been ejected from a game as Kansasโ€™ coach.

#๏ธโƒฃ This is the 33rd time this season that a top 10 team has lost on the road to an unranked opponent. March is going to be wild.

Duke Avoids Upset With Improved 2nd Half

๐Ÿ‘‰๏ธ The Duke Blue Devils had a 29-27 lead over the Wake Forest Demon Deacons. The 2nd half was a different story as Duke scored 48 points to get the 77-69 win. Mark Mitchell scored 23 to lead Duke, and Kyle Filipowski also added 21.

NHL Rapid Fire

๐Ÿ’ The New York Rangers secured their 5th straight win last night after shutting out the Calgary Flames in a physical matchup. Igor Shesterkin made 30 saves in the 2-0 win.

๐Ÿ’ The NJ Devils played a hard-fought game against the Seattle Kraken at the Prudential Center in Newark, NJ. Jack Hughes recorded 2 points, including a goal and an assist to help the Devils win 3-1. Nico Daws made his first start in goal since Jan 25 because the NJ starter was out with an injury, and Daws made 27 saves.

๐Ÿ’ The Minnesota Wild grabbed a high-scoring road victory against the Vegas Golden Knights in Las Vegas. Minnesota won 5-3 thanks to Joel Eriksson Ek, who scored twice last night. Minnesota had to fight their way back after going down 1-0 just 22 seconds into the game after Jonathan Marchessault had a pass deflected into the goal.

๐Ÿ’ The Philadelphia Flyers had a 3 goal 3rd-period to tie the game, take a lead and then add a buffer against the Arizona Coyotes. This was the Flyersโ€™ 4th straight win.

NBA Numbers

๐Ÿ”— We had a ton of games last night. You can see the full scoreboard right here.

Letโ€™s look at some of the big scorers from last night.

๐Ÿ€ Giannis scored 36 last night in a Milwaukee 122-95 win over the Denver Nuggets. Giannis also had 18 rebounds.

๐Ÿ€ Donovan Mitchell scored 36 points for the Cavs as they lost to the Philadelphia 76ers 123-121.

๐Ÿ€ Nikola Jokic was close to a triple-double in the Nuggetsโ€™ loss to the Bucks. Jokic had 29 points, 12 rebounds, and 8 assists. Do we consider this an off night?

๐Ÿ€ Victor Wembanyama recorded a triple-double last night in a less traditional way. Wemby helped the Spurs beat the Raptors 122-99 as Wemby had 27 points, 14, rebounds, and 10 blocks!

๐Ÿ€ Luka Doncic has been playing great ball lately and he recorded a triple-double last night against the Wizards. Doncic had 26 points, 11 rebounds, and 15 assists in the 112-104 win.

๐Ÿ‘€ Check out some Wemby highlights!

The Numbers Are In

Is Taylor Swift bigger than the moon landing? Well, technically, no, but hear me out.

This yearโ€™s Super Bowl had 123.4 million viewers which makes this the most watched broadcast in the history of television. 112 million of the viewers tuned in to CBS and the rest were on other telecasts like Paramount+ (ugh), Nickelodeon, Univision, CBS Sports and other NFL digital properties.

To put this into perspective, this yearโ€™s game had 7% more viewers than last yearโ€™s game. That ainโ€™t just normal inflation, buddy!

Was it the matchup, the Taylor Swift effect, or maybe the halftime show that drew more viewers? I think we can all come to an agreement and say it was because of Blake Lively. That feels better, right?

๐ŸŒ™ Just to round this thing out, the moon landing had 150 million viewers in 1969. We might not beat that until Elon Musk gets the Super Bowl to be played on Mars.
