Batters Are Hot In August

Good Morning. We’ve got no time for formalities. Let’s jump right into some updates, scores, and highlights!

MLB News

J-Rod Keeps It Going In The Batter’s Box

Julio Rodriguez is keeping his red-hot August going, helping the Seattle Mariners win 12 of their last 13 games and no.20 in August.

J-Rod had another 4 hits last night that included a 2 run homer and an RBI double.

You could draw up a bunch of stats for him right now.

In his last 10 games, he has 28 hits.

He has a 13-game hitting streak.

He’s got homers in his last 3 games.

The only player to have more 4-hit games in a month than him is Ty Cobb and Cobb did it in 1921.

Ronald Acuna Jr. Had Quite The Night

Ronald Acuna Jr. had a stat-filled night for the Atlanta Braves. He was 4 for 5, had 2 homers, two stolen bases, a double, a walk, five RBIs, and scored 4 runs…. and he was also tackled for a loss.

A couple of fans were trying to get selfies with Acuna mid-game and security obviously got involved. During the “scuffle” another person came running in and took out Acuna. It looked like an accident but it still shouldn’t be happening on the field. Acuna wasn’t injured and the Braves whooped the Colorado Rockies 14-4.

Back To Back Grand Slammies

The #1 drafted player in the 2017 MLB Draft is starting to shine for the Minnesota Twins. Royce Lewis only played in 12 games last year and has played in 38 this year. Last year he hit his first home run in the Majors and it was a Grand Slam against the Cleveland Guardians

This year, Lewis has 8 home runs, and more importantly, he’s got 2 grand slams in back-to-back games.

U.S. Open

The U.S. Tennis Open has started its first round of play and we will have some excitement in the last Grand Slam tournament of the year. We’ll be doing some coverage of the event daily until the Sep 10, when the finals are scheduled.

Djokovic Makes His Return

Novak Djokovic was unable to play in the US Open last year due to COVID travel restrictions. With restrictions lifted, Djokovic returned to the court for a first-round matchup. It’s his first match in Flushing Meadows in just about 2 years since lost to Daniil Medvedev in the 2021 Final.

Djokovic faced Alexandre Muller in Arthur Ashe Stadium yesterday and cleaned up in straight sets. He’ll face Bernabe Zapata Miralles tomorrow.

Pace Of Play Matters In All Sports Apparently

Coco Gauff, the overall 6 seed at the US Open and no.2 ranked American player was a bit heated after a close call in the opening round of her US Open.

Gauff, who is only 19, was facing Laura Siegemund and it was a difficult match for Gauff. Gauff fell in the first set and quickly regained control in the second set. Gauff would go on to win 6-4 in the final set.

The big issue of the match was the pace of play. Coco Gauff had to complain to the umpire that Siegemund was not ready for play and was very slow getting ready for Gauff’s serves.

What’s Going On In Arizona?

The Arizona Cardinals will be without Kyler Murray for at least the first four games after adding him to the PUP(physically unable to perform) list.

Well without their normal starter, the Cardinals are mixing things up at QB.

The Cardinals released Colt McCoy, who was the backup for the last two years and led the team all offseason. The release came just days after the Cardinals traded for Josh Dobbs from the Cleveland Browns.

Instead of playing a veteran who has attempted over 1,200 passes in the NFL and has thrown for almost 8,000 yards, the Cardinals will have a QB battle between Dobbs who was thrown 85 passes whilst being in the NFL since 2017, and rookie QB Clayton Tune who was drafted from the University of Houston.

Maybe Tune is the guy? He threw for almost 12k yards while playing for the Cougars in college.

So the question is… Are the Cardinals serious this year or are they tanking?

And if they are tanking… does it mean they’re done with Kyler Murray and are waiting for Caleb Williams?
