Bezos Bezos Bezos
Good Morning. This is the Daily Breakroom and we’re here to wish you a Happy Friday. We’ve got lots of quick hitters today so we’re skipping the “lineup” and getting straight into it.
🏈You Ain’t a Real Billionaire If You Don’t Own a Team
Billionaire Jeffrey Preston Bezos (you probably know him better as Jeff Bezos) is out here trying to prove that he’s not an alien. That’s right, while Jeff isn’t heading up to the stratosphere in his rocket, he’s trying be like every other American aka obsessed with football.
Bezos has hired a firm to explore placing a bid on the Washington Commanders. Current Commanders owners Daniel and Tanya Snyder are being investigated by the NFL a second time under allegations that they have a very toxic workplace. We’ll see where this potential Bezos buyout takes.
p.s. I think he really just wants to buy the team so he can sign his newly jacked self to a roster spot.
🏈Lamar Jackson Contract
The Lamar Jackson contract talks will be a continuous topic throughout the 2023 offseason. It seems that Jackson is looking to get one of the highest dollar contracts and also have the most guaranteed money in history. Lamar is trying to piggy back off of Deshaun Watson’s contract that was a fully guaranteed, 5 year, $230 million with Cleveland. Jackson has every right to try and negotiate for what he believes he’s worth. We’ll see how it plays pays out.
🏈 Bobby Wagner Wants to Win
All-Pro linebacker Bobby Wagner and the LA Rams mutually agreed to split ways. Wagner had 4 years left on his contract but the Rams need to get under the salary cap. Wagner isn’t trying to be part of the Rams rebuilding process and wants to win now. We’ll keep an ear out to find out where he signs.
🏈 Aaron Rodgers Last Two Days in Darkness
Aaron Rodgers entered a darkness retreat in Oregon and was attempting to be there for 4 days. His plan was “to contemplate all things” and make a decision that was best for his happiness. He left the retreat after two days. There is no update on his NFL future yet.
🏀 NBA Returns from Break
The NBA returned to action on Thursday night. There was a week break for the players with some All-Star activities mixed in. Two matchups to note are Celtics vs. Pacers and Lakers vs. Warriors.
The Celtics narrowly escaped the Pacers with an overtime win. Final score was 142-138.
The Lakers are starting their playoff push and defeated Warriors 124-111. Malik Beasley went 7-11 from 3pt land and had 25 total points for the Lakers.
Thanks for reading. We’ll catch on more football, basketball, and golf tomorrow. Enjoy them happy hours today.
Cheers!
