Big Bro Wins The Fight

Happy Tuesday, did you catch that game last night? What a messy night in Kansas City! Let’s start with a MNF recap and then cover some other sports.

Let’s go!

Monday Night Football

Philadelphia Eagles (9-1) 21 | Kansas City Chiefs (7-3) 17

If I could sum this win up for the Eagles it would go like this.

✔️ Keep the brotherly shove/tush push going

✔️ Have D’Andre Swift and DeVonta Smith make the big plays when needed

✔️ Have it rain in Kansas City so the Chiefs can’t fully rely on the passing game

✔️ Knock the ball out of Chief’s TE Travis Kelce’s hands in the redzone and recover the fumble

✔️ Have a Chiefs’ WR Marquez Valdes-Scantling drop a perfectly thrown game-winning touchdown pass

🧑‍🍳 Mix those all up, let it bake for 60 minutes, and you’ve got yourself a win.

…..

In all seriousness, this was a great game to watch in the middle of the season on a Monday night. A rematch of these two teams in the Super Bowl is a completely realistic idea. The Chiefs defense was hounding Jalen Hurts the entire first half but the Chief’s offense was feeding off the energy, scoring 17 in the first half. ?The Eagles made the necessary adjustments in the 2nd half and they have some much firepower on offense it’s hard to keep these guys quiet for another 30 minutes. While the Chiefs’ offense literally and metaphorically dropped the ball in the 2nd half, the Eagles’ defense made the plays they needed to shut out KC in the final 30 minutes.

Maybe we’ll see these teams in February?

Other NFL News

🏈Denver Broncos safety Kareem Jackson has been suspended for four games after his hit on Minnesota Vikings quarterback Joshua Dobbs during Sunday night's game. This is Jackson's second suspension for an illegal hit this season. He is appealing his latest four-game ban.

Jackson's first suspension was for two games, which was reduced from four games on appeal. He was suspended after being ejected for his hit on Green Bay Packers tight end Luke Musgrave in Week 7.

🏈LA Chargers pass-rusher, Joey Bosa will likely be placed on the IR after he hurts his foot in Sunday’s loss to the Packers.

NBA News

🏀 Nikola Jokic and head coach of the Nuggets, Mike Malone, were both ejected during the first half of a matchup against the Detroit Pistons. Without their HC and best player, the Nuggets still managed to pick up a 107-103 win.

🏀The Golden State Warriors snapped a 6 game-losing streak last night with a 121-116 win over the Houston Rockets. Steph Curry scored 32 points and Klay Thompson got out of his slump, scoring a season-high 20 points. The Warriors have us in an alternate universe this season as they are 2-6 at home and 5-2 on the road. This is a complete reversal from last year after being one of the best teams at home and one of the worst teams on the road.

🏀 The Minnesota T-Wolves are looking really good as they move to 10-3 on the season after a 117-100 win over the NY Knicks. Anthony Edwards had 23 points and 10 rebounds for Minnesota last night.

🏀 The Clippers grabbed another win last night with a 124-99 performance against the Spurs. Paul George scored 28 points, Kawhi Leonard had 21 and James Harden finished with 13.

🏀 Just one night after Kristaps Porzingis was the star of the show for the Celtics in a win against the Memphis Grizzlies, Jayson Tatum showed out with a 45-point performance in Charlotte. Unfortunately for the Celtics, it wasn’t enough as Hornets guard LaMelo Ball scored 36 points and helped get the OT win. Final score was 121-118.

College Basketball Top Teams Looking Sharp

We had two ranked vs ranked matchups in college basketball yesterday and we’re starting to get some real tests on who is a fraud and who is not.

#2 Purdue 73 | #11 Gonzaga 63

🏀 7’4” Purdue center, Zach Edey scored 25 points in a Maui Invitational quarterfinal game against a well-rounded Gonzaga team. Purdue trailed by as many as nine in the first half but outscored the ‘Zags 43-28 in the 2nd half.

#5 UConn 81 | #15 Texas 71

🏀 Uconn got 20 points from forward Alex Karaban and 16 from Rutgers transfer Cam Spencer in a big win against the Texas Longhorns in the title game of the Empire Classic.

👀 Looking for a crazy stat? UConn has a streak of winning nonconference games by double-digits and it’s been… 22 straight games! UNC has the record and their streak stopped at 23 in 2008 and 2009. Uconn faces Manhattan and then UNH, so they’ll likely break this record.

On The Ice

Before we check out some nice highlights from last night, check out the week 7 power rankings.

🏒 The Nashville Predators had a comeback win after scoring 2 goals in the final 40 seconds of last night’s match against the Colorado Avalanche.

🏒 The Calgary Flames had a comeback OT win after Rasmus Andersson grabbed his own wrap-around shot rebound and scored the game-winner.

🏒 The Tampa Bay Lightning handed the Boston Bruins their 2nd loss of the season after Brandon Hagel scored the game-winner on a breakaway play in OT.

Tiger’s New League Postponed Until 2025

TGL, a new indoor golf league that’s backed by Tiger Wood and Rory McIlroy is being put on hold. The league was supposed to debut in January of 2024 but there was an issue with the air-supported dome and the TGL SoFi Center and the dome collapsed. Instead of rushing to make quick fixes and have a partial season, sponsors and other interested parties made the decision to “get it right” and start in 2025.
