A Big Payout For Viktor Hovland

Good Morning and Happy Monday. Somehow it’s almost the end of August and the unofficial end to Summer is coming with the Labor Day weekend. No need to stress out, more football is on the way.

Let’s ease you back into the week with some 30-second stories.

Set the timer and let’s go.

Hovland Wins FedEx Cup

Viktor Hovland?

More like Viktory Hovland.

Viktor Hovland delivered an exceptional final-round performance of 63, finishing 27-under overall. His win earned him $18 million and he was named the FedEx Cup champion for the season. Xander Schauffele finished second at 22-under, while Wyndham Clark claimed third place at 16-under, and Rory McIlroy finished fourth at 14-under.

Schauffele made a great effort in the final round, recording eight birdies to challenge Hovland's lead but Hovland would go bogey-free and shoot by birdies on his final three holes, securing his victory.

Hovland grabbed his second win within a week after winning the BMW Championship last weekend. The consecutive wins give him a payout of $22 million in an 8-day span.

It’s been an awesome golf season and the FedEx Cup season starts back up in January. There are some other PGA events taking place between now and the end of the year but the biggest golf event comes in a few weeks when the Ryder Cup tees off in Rome.

Dutch Grand Prix

Max Verstappen secured his ninth consecutive victory by winning the Dutch Grand Prix at Circuit Zandvoort, matching Sebastian Vettel's 2013 Formula One record. Verstappen started from pole position but briefly lost the lead due to rain. A strategic pit stop allowed him to regain the top spot, widening his lead throughout the race. Fernando Alonso and Pierre Gasly also claimed podium finishes.

For the Mercedes team, Lewis Hamilton, starting from 13th position, finished sixth. George Russell faced difficulties and eventually retired due to a tire puncture after a restart.

Verstappen's dominance continues and he aims to break Vettel's record at the Italian Grand Prix on Sunday.

Texans Name CJ Stroud Week 1 Starter

The No. 2 overall pick in this year’s NFL Draft has been named the week 1 starter for the Houston Texans. The Texans have only won 11 games in the last three seasons and last year only won 3 games with David Mills behind center for most of the games. Mills will back Stroud. The Texans begin their regular season against the Baltimore Ravens on September 10th.

Simone Biles Does It Again

Simone Biles won her record eighth U.S. championship in gymnastics over the weekend. Biles won with an all-around total of 118.40, finishing 3.9 points ahead of Shilese Jones. Biles becomes the oldest woman to ever win the championships completing the feat at 26 years old.

That’s all for today. Have a great start to the week.
