The Biggest Game On The Biggest Stage

2026 might not feel super close, but for soccer fans around the world, it can’t come fast enough.

We’ll dig into the why and cover some other sports stories, all in under 5 minutes.

Let’s go!

World Cup Final Is Set

The World Cup is set for 2026, and it’s taking place in North America. The United States will host 78 games, while Canada and Mexico share in hosting 13.

FIFA has been finalizing the World Cup schedule, and they have finally selected the location for the World Cup Final. The Final has been chosen to occur right outside New York City at MetLife Stadium. The final match will take place on July 19.

Other cities that host games include Seattle, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Houston, Dallas, Kansas City, Atlanta, Miami, and Boston.

Embiid Out With Surgery = Big Blow To Sixers

Damn, Philly Phans can’t catch a break. First, the Eagles flew too close to the water and got their Super Bowl hopes drowned by some pirates, and now the Sixers Championship dream is chopped up like a ribeye on a flat-top grill.

Joel Embiid, who is the reigning MVP and is having a better year than his MVP year, will be out for an extended period of time as he will undergo surgery on his left meniscus. The timeline for recovery won’t be known until the surgery is complete, and it’s not clear if the tissue is fully torn or not. If the meniscus is only partially torn, we may be able to see Embiid back in time for playoffs, although it’s most likely we won’t see him until the 2024-2025 season.

Rally, Rally, Rally

We’ve got three games to cover from last night in the NBA en mucho rapido style.

⌛️The Oklahoma City Thunder had a 2OT win over the Toronto Raptors last night. OKC came back from a 23-point deficit. The Thunder had 5 20+ point scorers in the 135-127 win.

👉️ The LA Clippers are the real winners of the Grammys. The Clippers have been on the road for almost the last two weeks as their home arena was getting ready for the Grammys. Home or away, the Clippers have been playing well and have won 25 of their last 30 games. I wasn’t sure they’d figure out this James Harden experiment, but they’re proving me wrong. The Clippers were tied with the Heat 43-43 at halftime last night, and LA would outscore Miami 60-52 in the 2nd half thanks to James Harden scoring 16 in the final two quarters.

🏀 The Utah Jazz trailed the Milwaukee Bucks by 19 points, and the Jazz erased that deficit in the fourth quarter. Utah outscored Milwaukee 40-13 in the final 12 minutes last night and won 123-108. Lauri Markkanen was the high scorer for Utah, scoring 21 points.

Pebble Beach Pro-Am Winner Crowned

Wyndham Clark has been named the 2024 Pebble Beach Pro-Am winner after the tournament was cut short to just 54 holes.

The final round was postponed to today after Sunday's heavy rainfall and winds up to 60 mph. The weather carried over a bit into today, and Monterey County’s emergency authorities issued a shelter-in-place order for the Pebble Beach community as the strong winds continued.

Clark is the winner as he had a 1-stroke lead over Ludvig Aberg after Clark shot a course-record 60 on Saturday.

On Thursday, the PGA Tour will resume with the Waste Management Open in Scottsdale.
