Breakroom Going Abroad!
Well....sort of
Today’s Estimated Reading Time: 3 minutes and 55 seconds
Good Morning. This is the Daily Breakroom and we’re like a little kid eating Lucky Charms, we pick out all the good stuff, but for sports!
We’re practically going abroad today with big-time play from the Serbian, the NBA draft lottery that has all the focus on France, and we’ve got a European soccer update.
Let’s get to it.
NBA Playoffs
Western Conference Finals
Denver leads 1-0
Los Angeles Lakers 126
Denver Nuggets 132
Nikola Jokic(he’s Serban ICYMI) dropped a triple-double with 34-21-14 last night in a game 1 win over the Lakers in the WCF. Jokic played decent from the paint but was 3 for 3 from beyond the arc. His abilities can take him anywhere on the court and Anthony Davis found it laughable after Jokic drained a deep 3 over Davis in the 3rd quarter
It looked like this would be a runaway game for the Nuggets from the moment Denver grabbed the 4-2 lead a minute into the game. Denver would pour it on the Lakers in the first half, heading into the locker room with an 18-point lead.
The Lakers were down as much as 21 in the third but actually outscored Denver in the 2nd half 72-60. The Lakers would get it within three with just a minute left but had too little too late.
Anthony Davis finished with 40 for the Lakers and LeBron scored 26. Austin Reaves also contributed 23
The Nuggets got 31 from Jamal Murray and 21 from Kentavious Caldwell-Pope
Got time to kill? Here are 10 minutes of highlights.
Eastern Conference Finals
The Miami Heat will visit the Boston Celtics in Game 1 of the ECF tonight at 8:30 pm ET. You can watch the action on TNT.
NBA Draft Lottery
Gregg Popovich might have to coach for another 15 years as the San Antonio Spurs landed the No. 1 pick for the 2023 NBA Draft. The Spurs had a 14% chance of getting the top draft spot and they now have the opportunity to draft the 7’5” Victor Wembanyama, who is one of the most anticipated prospects since LeBron.
This is a great fit for Wembanyama as Popp will certainly help him develop in the league and the Spurs are always a great fit for the foreign players, especially the French. Boris Diaw played on the 2014 championship team and Tony Parker won four titles with the Spurs.
Brian Windhorst of ESPN was in France with Wembanyama as the lottery results were announced. Hear what this year’s No.1 pick has to say about the potential to join the Spurs.
Shoutout to Brian Windhorst for flying all the way to France to do a 70-second interview at 2:30 a.m.

UEFA Results
Inter Milan faced AC Milan on the pitch last night in Italy. Inter won the match 1-0 which gives them the edge after leg 1 and leg 2 and will advance to the UEFA Finals. They’ll play either Manchester City or Real Madrid, who face each other today at 3:00 pm ET.
PGA Championship in Rochester, NY.
The PGA Championship is teeing off in Rochester, NY tomorrow at Oak Hill Country Club with tee times starting at 7:00 am ET. We showed you some pictures of the rough the other day and the course is in beautiful shape.
It does seem a bit odd that the PGA Championship would be hosted in the northeast in May when the course isn’t reaching its full potential with growth yet. Even though Justin Thomas joked that it’s Rochester in May and they just had snow 3 weeks ago, he mentioned the course was in great shape.
We’ll have 156 golfers teeing off tomorrow so if you want to catch some of the action, here’s how you can watch(all times are in the Eastern time zone).
