Call the electrician because we're all shocked!
What a Monday
Last night was crazy. And if we had these games in a conference championship round, we’d talk about them for decades. Hell, we might still talk about these games for decades. This isn’t just in the NBA; this is the NHL, too.
Last night was more electric than the battle between Nikola Tesla and Thomas Edison to figure out which electric current was better.
Let’s get zapped into the all action.
Knicks Had A 3% Chance Of Winning
Okay if you thought my opening line about electricity was nerdy, so be it. But you know what seems nerdier, having a white curly-headed dude make the pump-up song for the Knicks in the 90s. GO NEW YORK, GO NEW YORK, GO! Is what you’d be saying during your sleep if you watched that game last night.
We can’t recap every single minute of the game, but here’s what you need to know.
The Knicks were trailing the entire first half in this game. NY couldn’t get a point up in the first quarter, and that set them back big time, especially since Tyrese Maxey wasn’t out with an illness for Philadelphia. Maxey and Joel Embiid scored 19 of the 25 points combined in the first quarter.
Remember, the Sixers were one of the best teams in the NBA before Embiid went down with his meniscus tear.
So, the Knicks semi-recovered in the second quarter and finished the third with a 5-point lead. This is where things started to get interesting.
The Knicks maintain their lead for most of the 4th, but around the 5-minute mark, they flatline and can’t get buckets. This has been a big problem for the Knicks, and it’s why the way they closed out game 1 was so remarkable. Well, the Sixers kept attacking and getting shots to fall. With 4 minutes to go, the Knicks had a 75% chance to win the game, and with 47 seconds left to play to the Sixers had a 97% win probability…
This is where the chaos ensues….and words can’t describe it. You need to see the replay. Big shots, hustling for balls, and refs missing timeouts are what the playoffs are for.

Oh and the game was sealed when Isaiah Hartenstein had practically the biggest block of his life against Tyrese Maxey with 10 seconds left.
KNICKS WIN 104-101!
and Joel Embiid says that Sixers will win the series still. LET’S FIND OUT.
Lakers Blow A 20-Point Lead or Jamal Murray Hits Buzzer Beater Win
I don’t know which headline to pick!
There’s no other way to describe what LeBron does other than just to say it’s remarkable(I know half of the readers here hate him). He’s 39 and he played a dominate game last night. He had 26 points, 8 rebounds, 12 assists, and 2 huge blocks. Anhtony Davis scored 32 and D-Lo had 23. Things were clicking. The Lakers had a 20 point lead in the third and IT DOESN’T MATTER.
It doesn’t matter because the Lakers were playing the Denver Nuggets, and the Nuggets didn’t care about the first half of the game. Seriously, Jamal Murray missed 13 of his first 16 shots and no one was concerned. His teammates told him to keep shooting, so that is what he did. Murray finished with 20 points, and 14 of them came in the fourth quarter, and none was bigger than his BUZZER BEATER GAME WINNING SHOT. Do you want to talk about being shocked ⚡️ ? Laker Nation certainly was!

You thought we would bring up Nikola Tesla and not bring up the other Nikola? Nikola Jokic is the quiet story in all of this and finished with 27 points, 20, rebounds, and 10 assists. JUST A QUIET TRIPLE-DOUBLE WITH 20 BOARDS!
If you want to get past the Nuggets in a series, you have to get that win last night. That’s a tough way to go down two games in the first round.
Stanley Cup Playoffs
Islanders Are Down Bad
The Carolina Hurricanes were leading the playoff series 1-0 against the NY Islanders, and it looked like the Islanders could steal a win on the road last night. With 2:22 remaining in game 2 last night and the Islanders having a 3-2 lead, the chance of stealing a win diminished. Carolina would score a goal with 2:15 left and umm you guessed it, would score another just 10 seconds later!

Canes leads the series 2-0 now. Wild stuff.
Edmonton Oilers Hit The Extra Point
The Edmonton Oilers have more points than the NY Jets in recent in playoff years. The Oilers even scored a touchdown + PATs last night when they beat the LA Kings 7-4. Connor McDavid notched 5 assists, and Zach Hyman scored a hat trick.
Maple Leafs Get A Win On The Road
The Bruins took a 1-0 lead midway through the first period last night, and the Leafs quickly tied it up 14 seconds later. Boston would put one in the back of the net with 8 seconds left in the period to grab a 2-1 lead. Towards the end of the 2nd period, John Tavares would tie it up for the Leafs with Auston Matthews's assisted goal, and Matthews would get his first goal of the playoffs this year, which would be the game-winner midway through the 3rd. Things are heading to Toronto for game 3 with a series tied 1-1!
Vegas Ruins Through Home Team Streak
7 of 8 home teams won their playoff opener, but Vegas had to spoil the fun. The Golden Knights got back Mark Stone, who lacerated his spleen in February and missed 26 games. Stone’s impact was felt immediately as he scored an opening goal just 1 minute and 23 seconds into the game. Vegas would score a 2nd goal 7 minutes later, and Dallas would trade goals with the Knights but couldn’t find a way to tie it up. Vegas wins game 1 with a 4-3 score.
