Can A Cold Shower Soothe A Sunday Loss?
some teams might not have a choice!
Happy Monday. It’s Thanksgiving week and you know what that means. It’s doing the bare minimum at work season from now until the first of January. It also means we’ve got A LOT of football this week.
Hopefully, you didn’t let this Monday ruin your Sunday. We’re going to cover all the action from the weekend, all in 5 minutes, and then let you go so you can drool over tonight’s Monday Night Football matchup.
College Football Recap
We had another great Saturday of college football even though we were looking ahead to this week’s rivalry weekend. Let’s run through some of the biggest games and some other major updates.
Win # 1,000
The #3 Michigan Wolverines defeated the Maryland Terrapins 31-24 for the Michigan program’s 1000th win. The Wolverines are the first college football team to ever reach the milestone and it took a battle to get the job done.
Michigan was without head coach Jim Harbaugh on the sideline for the 2nd week as he serves a suspension by the Big 10. The Michigan defense scored a touchdown and got 2 safeties during the game as the offense lacked some of the power it showed against Penn State the week prior.
A talented Maryland offense started to fire on their last drive in the 2nd quarter and kept the ball moving the rest of the game and they were Michigan’s toughest test this year by far.
#1 Georgia 38 | #18 Tennessee 10
🏈 Carson Beck threw for 298 yards and 3 TDs to lead Georgia over the Volunteers. Georgia is looking like a team ready to 3-peat a Natty as they’ve been rolling teams the last few weeks.
Minnesota 3 | #2 Ohio State 37
👀 Ohio State had its way with Minnesota this weekend. The Buckeyes were led by Kyle McCord who threw for 212 yards and 2 TDs. RB TreVyeon Henderson also rushed for 146 yards and 2 TDs
⏭️ Ohio State will face Michigan at the Big House on Saturday and this is basically the first playoff game of the season as whoever wins this practically secures a spot in the CFP
North Alabama 13 | #4 Florida State 58
✔️ Florida State took care of business and absolutely beat the bag out of a team that they should demolish. Good on the ‘Noles
❤️🩹 There is one problem and that’s Heisman candidate and starting QB Jordan Travis suffered a season-ending ankle injury after he was taken down by a “hip drop tackle”. If you didn’t know, a hip-drop tackle is when a defender wraps around his opponent and then drops his weight to bring them to the ground. It basically puts all the weight of the player making the tackle around the ball carrier’s knee or ankle and it seems to result in at least 1 injury every week. It’s the same tackle that injured NFL TE Mark Andrews last week, Patrick Mahomes last year, and countless other players.
❓️ So the question now is can FSU remain perfect in a matchup against Florida next week and then against Lousiville in the ACC Championship? If not, their hopes of making the CFP are likely gone.
#5 Washington 22 | #11 Oregon State 20
🏈 It was a role reversal for the Washington Huskies this weekend. The offense wasn't firing off score after score but the defense held up against a tough Oregon State team.
👉️ Michael Penix Jr. finished 13/28 for 162 yards and 2 TDs.
⏩️Washington had clinched a spot in the Pac-12 championship game with this win.
#6 Oregon 49 | Arizona State 13
👀 The Oregon Ducks are keeping their dreams of making the CFP alive after another convincing road win. Bo Nix is leading the Heisman race after a day where he completed 24 of his 29 passing attempts for 404 yards and 6 touchdowns.
🦆 The Ducks had over 600 yards of offense. They’ll be facing rival Oregon State on Friday night and if the Ducks win, the Pac-12 Championship will be a rematch between Washington and Oregon, a game that Oregon lost on a final-second field goal miss.
#7 Texas 26 | Iowa State 16
👀 Texas might have the single-best win of the season on their resume after being Alabama in Tuscaloosa earlier this year. But man, the Longhorns sure like to let teams think they have a chance to win every single week. Texas is leading in the Big 12 standings right now and they’ll need to put away Texas Tech on Friday night if they want to keep any hope of making the CFP alive.
Chattanooga 10 | #8 Alabama 66
🏈 Alabama might be the best #8 ranked team the nation’s ever seen. Bama’s won 9 straight and they seem to have this operation running very efficiently. I’m not shocked that Nick Saban was able to get things working.
⏩️ Alabama has already clinched the SEC West and is set to face Georgia in the SEC Championship. As much as Bama needs to beat Georgia to potentially get into the CFP, they can’t look past a very bad Auburn team this week. Rarely does this matchup disappoint, even if Auburn is terrible.
#10 Louisville 38 | Miami 31
🏈The final team to have a slight chance of getting into the CFP if the rest of the conferences absolutely fall apart would be Louisville. They’ll be facing a different Florida State team in the ACC Championship now and they had a tough loss against Pitt earlier this year and that doesn’t help the resume. Let’s not forget. Louisville still has to beat Kentucky on Saturday.

Let’s talk about some of the surprises and take a look at some big plays from the weekend.
🏈 The Cleveland Browns moved to 7-3 with a game-winning field goal victory over the Steelers. The Browns’ defense is keeping this team alive and kept Pittsburgh to just under 250 yards of total offense. Myles Garrett is a freak and had 2 sacks yesterday, bringing his season total to 13 sacks through 10 games.
🏈 The Detroit Lions are 8-2! This is insane. People wanted Dan Campbell fired last year and while yesterday wasn’t pretty, Jared Goff finished strong after throwing 3 picks early in the game. I hope the Lions stay hungry for a Thanksgiving Day matchup vs the Packers.
🏈 The Dolphins advance to 7-3 and the Raiders might be better than we thought. Give Antonio Pierce some credit for holding the Dolphins to just 20 points. Tyreek Hill was out for a lot of the game and it’s clear the Dolphins need him.
🏈 The Cowboys played great against another bad team. That’s going to be the story of their year until they change the narrative.
🏈 The Giants beat the Commanders and Tommy DeVito had 3 TD passes yesterday. Daniel Jones only had 2 all season. SOMEONE PAY DEVITO IN CHICKEN PARM AND SUNDAY SAUCE! 👇️
🚿 Wondering what the cold shower headline was about? FedEx Field, home of the Washington Commanders didn’t have hot water for the Giants or the Commanders after the game. There was a hot water system failure. There’s a whole group of TikTok influencers whose egos are insanely inflated after finding out 100 pro athletes had to take cold showers yesterday.
🏈The Bills offense looked good, but I’m not buying it yet. It was just 1 week against a Jets team that couldn’t give their defense a rest.
🏈The Seahawks and the Rams did not look like good football teams this week but someone had to win. The Rams came out on top as the Seahawks missed a game-winning field goal.
🏈Sean Payton might be the best Cowboy of all time. He came into Denver on his high horse and it looked like this year was about to be a disaster. He lassoed up and got these Broncos heading in the right direction. The Broncos are on a 4-game win streak and 3 of the last 4 wins were against teams with a winning record.
🏈 The Patriots escaped week 11 without a loss*
