Can USA 3-Peat?

Let's Find Out.....

Happy Friday! The Daily Breakroom is a smorgasbord of sports so today we’re serving up some soccer, golf, baseball, and football talk.

Let’s jump right in and get this Friday started.

USWNT Kicks Off Tonight

The US Women’s National Team will defend their World Cup Title and attempt the never been done before 3-peat. The US team is the top-ranked team in the world and they will face Vietnam at 9:00 pm ET on FOX. Vietnam is the 32nd-ranked team in the tournament and yes… there are only 32 teams playing.

Don’t bet on this match though, the US is -75000 to win.

Will Messi Debut Tonight?

Inter Miami faces Cruz Azul and the question remains if Lionel Messi will make his debut tonight. It’s unlikely that Messi is going to start for the club but he may get some action on the pitch.

Looking to watch a little footie action before the World Cup Match tonight? Tune in at 8 pm ET on Apple TV.

Opening Round At The Open

The Open at Royal Liverpool had what seems to becoming more common at every major, an amateur player at the top of the leaderboard after day 1.

Christo Lamprecht, fired an opening round 66 yesterday to come in 5 under and atop of the leaderboard. The best part is he’s 6 foot 8 and he’s an amateur.

30 minutes later, Tommy Fleetwood, who is still chasing his first tour win after coming so close throughout his whole career, would come in at 5 under as well. Fleetwood is the local favorite as he grew up nearby and had friends who were members of the course.

Emiliano Grillo would have the most impressive 66 to tie for first as he played in the afternoon when conditions started to get a bit more difficult.

We’re being set up for an exciting week as many of the golfers were within 5 strokes of the leader and many are teeing off in the early morning on Friday when conditions will be softer and hopefully, less windy.

Were there any big surprises out there? Other than the 6-foot-8 giant opening the round tied for first, a big surprise was Justin Thomas’ lackluster performance. He shot an 82 and is struggling to find his way on the course right now. We’ll see if he can turn it around today.

Get those double screens going at the office and tune in to the USA Channel where the broadcast will carry on until 3 pm ET, just in time to leave a little early for happy hour.

Also, check this giant out.

A Battle For the AL East

The Baltimore Orioles defeated the Tampa Bay Rays 4-3 in extra innings last night. This moves the O’s into first place in the AL East and the AL overall standings.

The O’s and Rays have 3 games left in a 4 games series, so the standing could shift again by the end of the weekend.

The Orioles haven’t been in first place since August 15, 2016.

NFL Hands Down Massive Punishment

After all of Dan Snyder’s misconduct with his organization and after an investigation concluded he sexually harassed a team employee, Dan Snyder would make the decision to sell the Washington Commanders.

It’s almost like he had no other choice but to sell this amazing asset that he purchased for $800 million in 1999. This did feel like a force out from the beginning so the question is did he make any money on the sale?

Well, he sold it for a solid $6.05 billion.

That’s a profit of $5.25 billion.

Well… really it’s only $4.19 billion because the NFL then fined Snyder $60 million.

So yes… he definitely made money.

Who bought the team?

A group that is led by Josh Harris and includes Magic Johnson. You all know who Magic is, but who is Josh Harris? Harris is the owner of the Philadelphia 76ers and the New Jersey Devils. He’s gotten both of those teams to develop into playoff contenders, can he do the same with the Commanders?

You’re Not Suppose To Do That

In today’s version of “Don’t do that”, Minnesota Vikings rookie receiver Jordan Addison was cited Thursday morning for speed and reckless driving after driving 140 mph in a 55 mph zone.

We get it, man, Minneapolis highways are dope (are they though?), but you know what’s going to be more dope?

Sleeping at the facility because you don’t have a license!

From one wide receiver to another

That’s all for today. Enjoy them happy hours!
