I Can't Find The Words

to describe how Jets fans feel

Is it shock, surprise, joy, or happiness that Jets fans feel today or is it sadness, gloom, or misery? I’m not really sure.

Let’s dig into week 1 of Monday Night Football and then cover some more sports after that.

Monday Night Football

The New York Jets put on a full display on Monday Night for their home opener against the Buffalo Bills and it almost came to a grinding halt. After Aaron Rodger received a massive welcome from the fans, he left the field just after 4 snaps and is feared to have a season-ending Achilles injury.

The Jets pulled off a Monday night win with a 22-16 OT score and it all came down to the Jets’ defense. Jordan Whitehead picked off Bills QB Josh Allen 3 times, which kept the Bills off the field as much as possible. Zach Wilson did throw a touchdown to Garrett Wilson, who made a beautiful catch.

Allen went 29 for 41, threw for 236 yards and 1 touchdown, had 3 INTs , and 1 fumble. He did help the Bills’ offense move the ball down the field in the last series in regulation when Tyler Bass hit a 50-yard game-tying field goal off the upright with 2 seconds left on the clock.

Allen couldn’t get anything going in OT and then the Jets did the unthinkable…. they brought the punt back for a TD.

That’s right, Xavier Gipson, who just found out 2 weeks ago he was making the 53-man roster took the punt back to the house and the Jets grabbed a week 1 win.

🏈 The Chiefs are getting their star defensive tackle back on the field after they signed a new one-year deal with Chris Jones that could be worth more than $19 million.

🏈There’s a scandal going around Michigan State and head football coach Mel Tucker has been suspended without pay following allegations of sexual harassment by sexual assault awareness speaker Brenda Tracy. Tucker denies the claims, stating that he had an "intimate, adult relationship" with Tracy, which she disputes. The school is conducting an investigation and if they choose to fire Mel Tucker they could ultimately owe him $70 million.

🏀After Team USA had a disappointing exit in the FIBA World Cup, some NBA stars just couldn’t take it. LeBron James, Steph Curry, KD, Anthony Davis, Jayson Tatum, and Draymond Green are all ready to commit to playing for Team USA in the 2024 Olympics. D-Book, Dame, De’Aaron Fox, and Kyrie Irving might even join up and play. Watch out world.

🏀 The NBA is looking at changing “resting” policies for players. The NBA’s competition committee is recommending stricter guidelines for teams resting players and penalties would come if teams violate guidelines on nationally televised game nights or if they sit multiple stars in the same contest. I’m fully on board with this as there is nothing worse than dishing out a couple hundred bucks for nice seats only to show up and the two guys you want to see play are sitting on the bench.

⚾️ Atlanta Braves first baseman Matt Olson hit his 49th and 50th homers of the season last night. He is the 5th player since 2010 to reach 50. He is 1 home run short of tying to Braves’ single-season record.

That’s all for today. Enjoy yourselves.
