In Case You Forgot
Shohei Ohtani is really freaking good. Like so good that he homered in his spring training debut for the Dodgers. Get your bets in now; the Dodgers are winning the World Series.
Let’s look at Shohei’s hit, some NBA scores, NFL news, and mayhem that seems to be spreading over college basketball.

Watch out, National League. Actually, the entire league should be on notice. Enough said.

NBA Scores
Monday night was such a boring night in the NBA. How does one day make such a difference?
Half-court buzzer-beater FOR THE WIN
🏀 The Cleveland Cavaliers beat the Dallas Mavericks 121-119 thanks to a Max Strus half-court buzzer-beater 3 that gave the Cavs the win. Donovan Mitchell had 31 for the Cavs, and Max Strus had 21 after the final bucket. It’s a tough loss for the Mavs, who got 45 points from Luka Doncic and 30 from Kyrie.

The Stars Are Aligning
🏀 Tyrese Maxey may have scored 32 points for the Philadelphia 76ers, but you’ll need more than that to beat the Boston Celtics. Boston beat Philly 117-99, and the Celtics got 31 from Jaylen Brown, 29 from Jayson Tatum, and 23 from Kristaps Porzingis. That’s 83 points from 3 players and the Celtics 9th straight win.
Warriors Get A Team Win
🏀 The Golden State Warriors got a 123-112 win over the Washington Wizards. Former Warriors Jordan Poole came off the bench for Washington and only had 12 points. Kyle Kuzma put up 27 for Washington. It was a team win for the Warriors as Steph Curry only scored 18 points, and it seems like he’s in a bit of a slump after shooting just 25% from three. Jonathan Kuminga stepped up big and had 21 points, and Klay Thompson had another great night off the bench, scoring a much-needed 25 points. Klay was 6 for 11 from three.
Some Other Highlights
📽️ Here’s Wemby almost completing an alley-oop to himself after bringing the ball down the court
📽️ Chet Holmgren is throwing down reverse alley-oops? I guess so.

NFL News
🦵 An NFL Competition Committee is trying to bring life back to the kick return. There 2,698 kick returns in 2023 and roughly 20% of those had an attempted return, the rest resulted in touchbacks. The committee is proposing an XFL rule where only the kicker and return can move before the ball is caught. The rest of the dudes line up on the return’s side of the field just five yards apart, and the play practically starts once the ball is caught, resulting in what looks like a regular football play.
Trickery leads to the first kickoff return TD in @xfl2020 history and St. Louis is ROCKING! 🙌

🏈 The Dolphins could be entering a dangerous territory. Head coach Mike McDaniel is recommending that the organization signs Tua to a long-term deal. Tua has one year left on his rookie deal and led the league in passing yards last season. I think I agree with a lot of people who use an eye test when it comes to Tua. His arm isn’t strong, he has dope weapons at receivers, and two awesome runningbacks. If you have to pay Tua, you might not be able to pay the other dudes! 🤷♂️
🏈L’Jarius Sneed has been a huge part of the Chiefs’ defense the last few seasons but this season was his best by far. Sneed was probably one of the best cornerbacks in the league, and the Chiefs’ defense is really the reason they made it to the Super Bowl in the first place. The Chiefs are looking to franchise tag Sneed and have said if they can’t come to an agreement, they would be open to trading the CB. When you win the Super Bowl, players are going to want to get paid. Add that to the fact that you get the last pick in the draft order and this is why it’s so hard to have repeat Super Bowls.
College Basketball Mayhem
🏀 BYU traveled to #7 Kansas yesterday for a Big 12 matchup. Kansas had a 19-game home win streak going. After the Jayhawks had a 35-29 lead at the half and extended that to a 12-point lead when the half opened, it looked like it would be a 20-game win streak at home…. NOT SO FAST! BYU would outscore Kansas 47-33 and grab the upset 76-68.
🏀 Fans are struggling to keep the court free of people and debris lately. Last night, during an in-state showdown where Texas Tech “hosted” Texas, Longhorns’ player Brock Cunningham was ejected from the game after hip-checking a Texas Tech player while hustling for a ball. While the referees were sorting the foul out, fans starting throwing debris on the court. This resulted in Texas Tech getting a technical and the coach had to get on the mic at the arena and ask the students to stop throwing water bottles and other stuff on the court. Does anyone know how to attend a game anymore? Texas won 81-69.
Texas is just showing Texas Tech how to tackle. I don't see the problem here.
