The Cavaliers Win An NBA Title?

+ Messi Arrives In Miami

Good Morning and Happy Tuesday. We’re closing the door on NBA Summer League but we’ve got more to talk about.

Here’s what we got today:

  • Cavs Win Summer League Title

  • Messi Arrives In Miami

  • Ohtani Helps Angels Top Yankees

  • Runningbacks Aren’t Happy With Contracts?

Let’s get to it.

Cavs Win Summer League Title

The Cleveland Cavaliers would rather have another NBA Title, but if you watched any of the Cavs’ 99-78 win over the Houston Rockets, you’d realize they'll likely be happy with this title too.

The Cavs had some great play out of their players and this should make the organization feel good about where their roster is heading. Isaiah Mobley had 28 points and 11 rebounds for the Cavs, and he was voted game MVP. Sam Merrill scored 27 points and Emoni Bates added 19.

You might be thinking… Does Summer League even matter? The answer is a yes and a no.

Look, you can either play ball or you can’t and summer league isn’t going to make you better in 10 days.

It’s more of a showcase to show off the guys who have put the work in and are improving during the year when the NBA season is ongoing. It’s for the new draft picks to get a little more comfortable or for teams to play their first-round draft pick and build some hype for fans.

Summer League can be whatever you want it to be, but one thing is for sure. When there’s a breakout player next season, all of us will still be saying “That dude just came out of nowhere.”

Messi Arrives In Miami

Lionel Messi has arrived in Miami and we could see him play as early as this Friday for the Inter Miami CF. Fans packed into the DRV PNK Stadium Sunday night and had a welcome celebration. Messi announced that he was excited to be here and is ready to train and help the team win.

A big part of coming to America to play was getting to spend more time with his family, something that has already been happening. Messi was seen at the market with his fam at Publix. That would have been very difficult for him to do when he was playing Europe, not because they don’t have a Publix over there, its more of the part where he just could hardly go anywhere without a crowd of fans being there and he needed all sorts of security and escorting.

Let’s see if Messi plays on Friday in Inter Miami’s matchup against Mexican Soccer League’s Cruz Azul.

Cristiano Ronaldo Seems Salty

CR7 seems a bit salty after Messi made it stateside. In a recent interview, Ronaldo talked about how MLS isn’t as good as Saudi Pro League that he joined. Ronaldo sure seems obsessed with Messi quite a bit.

Ohtani Helps Angels Win

Shohei Ohtani hit a 2-run homer last night in the 7th inning in the Angels’ matchup against the New York Yankees. The Angels were down 3-1 heading into the bottom and Ohtani would tie it up. The Angels would win 4-3 after going to an extra inning. This is Othani’s 3rd consecutive game with a home run and he now has 35 on the year.

Runningbacks Aren’t Happy

It’s been a known fact for the last few years that RBs are expensive and get hurt too often. This isn’t new. If you have a good offensive line you could throw almost any RB in the mix and he’ll rush for 100 yards. Maybe you won’t see a top-10 play or he might not get that big 20-yard run, but you’ll for sure be able to spend money where it matters.

Well, as you would expect, the RBs don’t agree with that. Check out what where they are all thinking in this article.
