Wells Fargo Championship On The PGA Tour

We are back on the PGA Tour with another elevated event.

Don’t recall what an elevated event is?

It’s the same as a designated event.

Don’t recall what a designated event is?

Got it.

The elevated/designated events are events on the PGA Tour that involve all-star fields and big purses. Like $20 million big!

This week’s event is the Wells Fargo Championship at Quail Hollow in Charlotte, NC. Quail Hollow ranks as one of the hardest courses on the PGA Tour. It stretches 7,500 yards and the greens consist of lightning quick Bermudagrass. You’ll see tree lined fairways and water hazards on six holes. Over 50 percent of approach shots come from over 175 yards out. What does that mean for the pros? They’ll hit the greens less than 60% off the time on average. What does that mean for us watching? We’ll likely see lots of great chipping and short game play around the greens.

So who’s the favorite for the tournament?

Rory leads the pack as the favorite, but here are the odds for the top 15.

Rory McIlroy +750
Patrick Cantlay +1400
Xander Schauffele +1600
Tony Finau +1700
Jordan Spieth +1900
Justin Thomas +2100
Cameron Young +2100
Viktor Hovland +2100
Collin Morikawa +2100
Sungjae Im +2300
Matthew Fitzpatrick +2300
Max Homa +2400
Jason Day +2800
Sam Burns +3100
Rickie Fowler +4100

Paris St. Germain Is A Mess(i)

Lionel Messi has been suspended without pay for 2 weeks by Paris St. Germain after he took a trip to Saudi Arabia to discuss the opportunity to join a new team next year.

There are some rumors that Messi may join his previous team at FC Barcelona after his contract expires with PSG but some speculate that he may make the move to the MLS in the United States as David Beckham is making a bid for Messi to join Inter Miami, which Beckham owns.

Now Saudi Arabia is in the mix and the Al Hilal club is trying to woo Messi into a potential $400 million contract in which he’ll compete against Cristiano Ronaldo who plays for Al Nassir.

We’ll keep you updated on where Messi ends up and any of the drama in between.

That’s all for today. We hope you enjoyed our 100th post and we look forward to bringing you more stories.

Cheers!
