Celtics Win Game 4
The Boston Celtics grabbed a road win and avoided elimination from the Eastern Conference Finals. The Celtics were down 6 at the end of the first half after being outscored 56-50. Boston put together a solid 2nd half, not just from a scoring standpoint but also on the defensive. Boston outscored Miami 66-43 in the 2nd half to grab the 116-99 win.
Jayson Tatum was the star of the show on the court last night. He led both teams in points, rebounds, and assists after scoring 33 points, grabbing 11 boards, and dishing out 7 assists.
Game 5 will be in Boston tomorrow night.
Stanley Cup Playoffs
Western Conference Finals
The Vegas Golden Knights dominated the Dallas Stars on Tuesday night with a 4-0 win to go up 3-0 in the Western Conference Finals.
Vegas scored 3 goals in the first quarter on 5 shots. These all came within the first 8 minutes and Scott Wedgewood quickly replaced Dallas goaltender Jake Oettinger. Wedgewood would allow a lone goal in the 2nd period and he would face 11 total shots during the game.
Adin Hill, the goalkeeper for Vegas, had a stellar night in the net for the Golden Knights as he stopped 34 shots on goal.
Game 4 will be tomorrow in Dallas
Eastern Conference Finals
The Florida Panthers will attempt to sweep the Carolina Hurricanes with a home game in Sunrise, FL at 8:00 pm ET tonight. Tune in to TNT for the action.
Tiger News
Tiger Woods officially withdrew from the 2023 U.S. Open that is set to take place at the Los Angeles Country Club from June 15-18. Tiger has won the U.S. Open three times but won’t be able to compete this year as he underwent ankle surgery in April after his painful Masters appearance where he was suffering from plantar fasciitis. We’ll be unlikely to see him at The Open in July. Good luck to Tiger, we'd like to see him out there in 2024.
NFL Making Moves
The NFL just implemented some new rules and kudos to them for doing some things that actually make sense for once.
Here’s the first good rule. The NFL will allow a 3rd QB to dress for the game in case of an emergency like your starter and backup both get hurt. NFL teams can only dress 48 players for a game and you rarely need that 3rd QB so it wasn’t a big deal to get an extra lineman or DB dressed. With the league being so QB dominant, we think it makes sense to allow teams to dress an emergency QB.
Here’s the next change that we like and please, keep an open mind. The NFL just approved flex scheduling for Thursday Night Football, but only through weeks 13-17. Here’s why that’s a good thing. In the past, we’d have terrible Thursday Night matchups and they would only get worse if both teams were out of the playoffs towards the end of the season. With the new rule, the NFL can create more headliner matchups for TNF and it shouldn’t impact teams too much. Teams must be notified 28 days before the matchup, so everyone will have plenty of time to adjust. We’ll see how this plays out this year.
F1 Throwing Cash Around
Seven-time F1 champion, Lewis Hamilton has a contract with Mercedes that is expiring at the end of the year and Ferrari wants in. It’s been reported that Ferrari president John Elkann has been in close contact with Hamilton and Ferrari is willing to offer the driver 40 million pounds to sign with Ferrari. This would be quite the shakeup in the F1 world and will likely be a hot topic as we head into the Monaco Gran Prix this weekend.
That’s all for today. Enjoy your Wednesday!
