PGA Tour
The AT&T Byron Nelson teed off yesterday for the PGA Tour at TPC Craig Ranch, which is just a little northeast of Dallas. The total purse is $9.5 million with $1.7 million going to the winner who can outlast this long 7,500-yard course over four days.
S.Y. Noh came in at an outstanding 11 under par in round 1. He had 9 birdies and 1 eagle and he also cracked his driver. His first-round score of 60 tied the course record.
Here’s how you can watch the action for the rest of the weekend.
Friday, May 12: 4-7 pm ET (Golf Channel)
Saturday, May 13: 1-3 pm ET (Golf Channel); 3-6 p.m. ET (CBS)
Sunday, May 14: 1-3 pm ET (Golf Channel); 3-6 p.m. ET (CBS)
LIV Golf
Take a four-hour trip north of TPC Craig Ranch and you’ll find yourself in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the Cedar Ridge Country Club. LIV Golf will be kicking off their 54-hole event there on Friday.
The big concern of the weekend for LIV Golf is the course conditions at Cedar Ridge. They’ve had some rough winter conditions the last few weeks and the course hasn’t faired aesthetically as much as the league would like. LIV has brought some agronomist consultants on board to evaluate the course and while some areas of the course might not look like a 10/10, they’ll still be a true test to the golfers that are competing.
How does the LIV format differ from the PGA tour?
There are a few differences. Let’s go through them.
LIV Golf has:
54 hole tournaments
No cut
48 players max
Shotgun starts
Team events (48 players are on 12, four-man teams throughout the year)
On Sunday, we’ll have both an individual winner(lowest strokes) and a team winner (lowest cumulative strokes)
