Coast to Coast
Today's Estimated Reading Time: 3 Minutes and 6 Seconds
Happy Tuesday from the Daily Breakroom. We’ve got a few stories to cover plus one that we find to be kind of hilarious.
Here’s what we got today:
ACC Stretching Its Boundaries?
Team USA BBall Dominates
Lions Sign QB
MLB Hands Out Suspensions
Orioles Broadcaster Suspended For What?
Lots to cover in 5 minutes, let’s get to it.
ACC Stretching Its Boundaries
As the Big 10, Big 12, and SEC are opening their doors to schools across the nation, it was a mystery what the ACC would do. The Pac-12 is falling apart, would the ACC fall too?
The ACC, which is actually the Atlantic Coast Conference, currently stretches from South Bend, Indiana to the Atlantic Ocean’s coastline. Apparently, they aren’t worried about their Western boundaries. The conference is considering adding Stanford and Cal Berkley to the conference as the Pac-12 disintegrates.
There are a few questions to answer before the teams are added. Will Stanford or Cal drive more revenue to the conference and their tv deals? Maybe
Will this be a massive burden on students and the school’s finances when it comes to regular conference games for all sports? Most definitely.
I think travel is the thing that most people overlook. This isn’t just traveling once a week for 6 weeks of away games during football season. Every sport is changing conferences and now the swimming team needs to fly across the country for a Saturday meet. Does Stanford have to play Boston College in a basketball game on a Tuesday night? That’s a 6-hour flight one way.
This impacts much more than just football and tailgating. I can’t wait to see how this unfolds.
Team USA Dominates In BBall
Team USA completed a five-day training camp in Las Vegas as it prepares for the FIBA World Cup. Team USA crushed Puerto Rico 117-74 and head coach Steve Kerr was feeling good about the team picking up all of their responsibilities.
The World Cup starts on August 25 and the USA roster is bolstered by a bunch of young guns from the NBA. You’ve got big names like Paolo Banchero, Jalen Brunson, Anthony Edwards, and Austin Reeves.
We’ll be covering the FIBA World Cup when it tips off.
Lions Sign QB
The Detroit Lions are adding some depth at QB to add a safety net if anything happens to starter Jared Goff. Teddy Bridgewater has signed a deal with Detroit and is rejoining head coach Dan Campbell who Bridgewater worked with during their stints in New Orleans.
MLB Hands Out Suspensions
The MLB has disciplined Tim Anderson and Jose Ramirez after the two of them started a brawl during a game between the Chicago White Sox and Cleveland Guardians. Tim Anderson has received a 6 game extension after he was knocked, might we add. Jose Ramirez was only given a 3 game ban. Both players were fined and apparently, you can get rewarded by the MLB if you actually throw a knockout blow 😉
A Hilarious Suspension
The Baltimore Orioles have suspended broadcaster Kevin Brown after he had some pretty honest comments during the Orioles pregame show ahead of facing the Tampa Bay Rays last month.
Take a listen to what Brown said during the pre-game show and be honest with yourself… did he even say anything that wasn’t just facts?
Orioles broadcaster Kevin Brown has been suspended indefinitely for making these comments about the Orioles' record against the Rays

Quite frankly, I like the “Trop-ical Depression” pun on the screen.
Also…they had a graphic for all of this so someone producing the show thought this was a good idea.
Last thing… THE ORIOLES ARE THE BEST TEAM IN THE AMERICAN LEAGUE….Why is the organization so mad about any of this!!!!!???
Hopefully, you were entertained today because I surely was. Enjoy your Tuesday, we’ll see you tomorrow.
