College Basketball Takeover

Howdy! It’s Saturday, and college hoops is ready to take over. We’ve got rivalries in college basketball and top-ranked matchups that can impact conference standings. We’ll dig into the matchups and cover much more!

College Basketball Top Matchups

#4 Houston @ #8 Kansas

📺️ 4 pm ET on ESPN

🏀 Houston finds itself atop the Big 12 conference standings, and Kansas sits in 4th just behind Iowa State and Texas Tech. This Big 12 showdown has major implications for the conference, and this game tonight, along with a rematch in March, could be a determining factor when it comes to seeding in both the Big 12 and NCAA tournaments.

#7 Duke @ #3 North Carolina

📺️ 6:30 pm ET on ESPN

🏀 The Tar Heels fell to unranked Georgia Tech the other night, likely overlooking them and looking ahead to tonight’s tobacco road matchup. UNC has been playing well as a cohesive unit, and Duke’s Kyle Filipowski has been underperforming in the shooting category. Duke's roster might be the better one, but UNC has shown it can get up for the big games. This one will come down to depth on the bench and keeping dudes out of foul trouble. We’re in for a great game tonight

#5 Tennessee @ #10 Kentucky

📺️ 8:30 pm ET on ESPN

🏀 Who doesn’t like a little SEC action in February? Tennesse might have one of the best scorers in the country on their roster with Dalton Knecht but they’ll be facing a team full of offensive stars in the Kentucky Wildcats. One issue with Kentucky is that their defense is meh. Categorically speaking, Kentucky is top 5 in the country when it comes to scoring, and they are close to the bottom when it comes to points allowed. I might have to take the over at 159.5.

👉️ Just when you thought a full-day competitive ball couldn’t get any better, they throw a Sunday game in there!

#2 Purdue @ #6 Wisconsin

📺️ 1 pm ET on CBS (Sunday)

🏀 We round out the weekend with some Big 10 action. Purdue just put over 100 points the other night and Wisconsin fell to Nebraska on Thursday. These are the top 2 teams in the Big 10. Can Wisconsin stop big man Zach Edey, who is averaging almost 23 points per game? Purdue has been averaging 84 points per game and holding opponents just 71 points per game. Sure, Wisconsin has 7-footer Steven Crowl, who can maybe battle it out with Edey in the paint, but how is Wisconsin going to a Purdue team averaging over 40% from beyond the arc?

The Good JuJu

👀 JuJu Watkins, who is a freshman for USC’s womens’ college basketball team brought the good stuff on Friday night against rival Stanford. Watkins scored a school-record 51 points in an upset over the #4 team in the country. The final score was 67-58. Watkins outscored Stanford all by herself in the 3rd quarter. Watkins was 6-11 from 3-point land and was 17-19 from the charity line.

Millie McDavid + NHL All-Star Game

Edmonton Oilers Captain/Star Connor McDavid won the NHL’s skills competition last night and got the big $1 million check. He won the faster skater competition, the stick handling competition, and the shooting accuracy competition and then rounded it all with a final round win at the obstacle course.

📺️ The NHL All-Star game will drop the puck at 3 pm ET today and will be on ABC

Sunny Days = Golf Talk

A Great Start To The LIV Season

Sunny skies in Mexico make for a great day of golf. Joaquin Niemann took advantage of the nice conditions at El Camaleon Golf Course and recorded the second-lowest round in LIV Golf. Niemann shot a 59, something 99.9% could only dream of.

Niemann’s scorecard included one eagle, ten birdies, and seven pars. What a day for a dude that was super dialed in. 🎯

Pebble Beach Pro-Am

We’ve got a tight leaderboard at Pebble Beach with Thomas Detry, Ludvig Aberg, and Scottie Scheffler at the top at -11. Patrick Cantlay is hanging out at -10, and Justin Thomas is at -9.

We’ve got some great groups on Saturday and you can watch the action starting on ESPN+ at 11:30 pm ET, the Golf Channel at 1 pm ET, and CBS at 3 pm ET.

Enjoy your Saturday!
