College Football Preview + KD passes Hakeem

Today's Estimated Reading Time: Just Under 5 Minutes

Happy Friday! We’ve got a busy day with a lot of sports. It’s a good problem to have. Let’s jump right and get this Friday started.

College Football Preview

We’re getting ready for another great Saturday with college football. There are not many ranked vs. ranked games tomorrow, but we do have some potential season wreckers. Let’s check it out.

#6 Oklahoma at Kansas

📺️ Noon ET on FOX

👀 Oklahoma has been looking really good this year but had a close call against UCF last week. Kansas cleaned up UCF a few weeks ago, so the Jayhawks should handle the Sooners easily, right? Well, not exactly. We still have 18-22 year olds playing the game and sometimes you just need a close game to get you back on track.

💰️ OU is 9-point favorites in this matchup on the road and the O/U is 66. I think Oklahoma covers the spread but I think this game will stay under 66 because Kansas can run the ball well and I think that will take some juice off the clock

#1 Georgia vs Florida

📺️ 3:30 pm ET on CBS

🍸️It’s the world's largest outdoor cocktail party when the Georgia Bulldogs face the Florida Gators in Jacksonville, Florida. This neutral site game is a tradition that dates back to 1933 when these two teams started playing in Jacksonville every year so fans and students could get to the game by train.

👀 Georgia will be without TE Brock Bowers, so the question is, how good will this offense be without one of their best players? Georgia currently has one of the top passing games in the country and you’d have to imagine their TE2 will step up this week. Apparently, Vegas thinks they’ll be 1 point worse without Bowers. Georgia has a great run defense but Florida isn’t looking to make things happen on the ground. Florida is looking to air the ball out with Graham Mertz, who has a 12:2 touchdown to interception ratio right now.

💰️ Georgia is a 14.5-point favorite in this matchup and the O/U is 49. I’ll take Florida and the over.

#8 Oregon at #13 Utah

📺️ Gametime is 3:30 pm ET and you can watch on FOX

👀 This is a big matchup for the Oregon Ducks as they are currently in season-saving mode. Oregon has an explosive offense and a stout defense but this isn’t anything Utah hasn’t seen before.

👉️The Utes are coming off a big win vs USC and the Utah offense looked pretty darn good, but that could be in part due to the weak defense of USC. Can Utah get up for this game after the big win last weekend? I think they’ll be super competitive but ultimately I think Oregon is the better team overall

💰️ Oregon is 6.5 point favorites and the O/U is 47.5. I’ll take Utah getting points and the under.

Thursday Night Football

Tamps Bay Buccaneers (3-4) 18 | Buffalo Bills (5-3) 24

⌛️ The Bills grabbed their 5th win of the season and held off a late push by the Bucs in Buffalo. Other than a great win against the Dolphins, it appears the Bills can be pretty good against bad teams and pretty bad against good teams. We’re just “joshing” around a little bit 😉 . The Bucs do have a talented defense and the Bills offense looked better than weeks past

👉️ Josh Allen was 31-40 for 324 yards, he had 2 touchdowns and 1 interception and also ran a touchdown in.

👉️ Baker Mayfield was 25 of 42 and had 237 yards throwing and 2 touchdowns

NBA

Philadelphia 76ers 117 | Milwaukee Bucks 118

🏀 The Philadelphia 76ers played a complete without James Harden on the court. Wouldn’t you know it, there were 5 double-digit scorers on the floor for the Philly without Harden playing and 4 of those scorers were 20+ points.

🏀 Damian Lillard had his Bucks debut and it was for sure DAME TIME. He scored 39 points in 37 minutes and he grabbed 8 rebounds. Giannis Antetokounmpo scored 23 points and had 13 rebounds.

😕 Here’s a confusing stat to me. Brooke Lopez only had 2 rebounds last night. You would expect the 7’1” guy to have more than 2 rebounds, right?

Phoenix Suns 95 | LA Lakers 100

⏱️Whether you like him or not, LeBron James has set himself up to be a hero in his 21st NBA season. He supposedly has a 30-minute limit a night and in game 2, he already passed it. LeBron played 35 minutes last night (I hope he’s okay today) and played the entire 4th quarter. LeBron scored 10 in the 4th quarter last night ( I think I counted correctly) and it’s seriously impressive how the 38-year-old can still get to the rim.

⭐️ Even though the Suns lost (D-Book and Bradley Beal didn’t play) Kevin Durant can still get a gold star. He scored 39 points last night and passed Hakeem Olajuwon for 12th on the all-time scoring list.

NHL

OT Alert: Anaheim Ducks 4 | Boston Bruins 3

⏱️ The Anaheim Ducks came up with an improbable win against the Bruins last night. The Ducks were down 3-1 with 2 minutes to go last night and would score 2 goals just 1 minute and 40 seconds apart to send the game into OT. Anaheim would score in OT to get the come-from-behind victory.

New York Rangers 3 | Edmonton Oilers 0

🥅 Jonathan Quick made 29 saves for the NY Rangers last night and shut out the Edmonton Oilers. The Oilers are playing without star forward Connor McDavid and it shows as Edmonton has lost 4 straight and is off to a 1-5-1 start.

🏒 The Rangers had three separate goals coming from Adam Fox, Braden Schneider, and Alexis Lafreniere.

World Series

The Arizona Diamondbacks face the Texas Rangers tonight in Game 1 of the World Series.

📺️ Gametime is at 8:03 pm ET and you can catch the action on FOX.

💰️ The Rangers are -170 to win game 1 at home. Looking for an in-depth betting guide for the entire series? Check this out from CBS Sports.

Enjoy your happy hours today and we’ll be back with you tomorrow with our NFL Sunday preview.

Cheers!
