Of course, more upsets.

Good Morning!

We’ve got an exciting next few days. The Players Championship tees off this morning, the NFL season officially opens for business today, and March Madness is right around the corner. Let’s take a look at a few scores, some signings, and what we can expect from TPC Sawgrass today.

College Basketball

We didn’t have many ranked teams playing yesterday, but out of the two that did, of course, one got upset.

🏀 The #16 Kansas Jayhawks were upset in the second round of the Big 12 championship by Cincinnati. Kansas was straight-up outplayed in both halves, and the final score was 72-52. There might not be too much to worry about for Kansas fans. Kansas has the conference’s two leading scorers on their squad, and both of those guys didn’t play yesterday.

🏀 Syracuse lost in the second round of the ACC tournament yesterday to NC State. No one has been paying attention to Cuse this year, but this might have been their last chance to get into the Tournament. I bring it up because it just goes to show how hard it can be to get into the tournament sometimes. Kansas is ranked and has 10 losses. Cuse has 12 losses on the year and likely won’t get it. That’s a tough break for some college kids.

NBA Stats and Scores

🏀 We had another NBA Finals rematch last night between the Denver Nuggets and Miami Heat. The Nuggets came out on top with a final score of 100-88. Nikola Jokic only had 12 points, but Michael Porter Jr. stepped up with 25. The Nuggets are now 1st in the West.

🏀 The Chicago Bulls took it to OT in Indiana and grabbed a win over the Pacers. DeMar DeRozan finished with 46 points and had the game-tying jumper to take things into OT.

🏀 Domantas Sabonis is now 10-0 against Anthony Davis as the Kings beat the Lakers 120-107 last night. Sabonis grabbed another triple-double with 17 points, 19 rebounds, and 10 assists. Austin Reaves led the Lakers with 28 points.

Games on Tonight

📺️There’s only one game on TV tonight. It’s the Phoenix Suns @ the Boston Celtics. Gametime is 7:30 pm on TNT

NFL Signings

🏈 The Dallas Cowboys have actually signed a free agent after getting LB Eric Kendricks to flip from the 49ers. He’s rejoining Cowboys DC Mike Zimmer, who was Hendricks' head coach for a while in Minnesota.

🏈 Joe Flacco is getting another shot! Flacco is signing a 1-year deal with the Indianapolis Colts worth up to $8.7 million after a pretty cool “off the sofa” return where Flacco won comeback player of the year.

🏈 The Tennesse Titans are trying to add weapons around Will Levis. They just signed Calvin Ridley to a 4-year, $92 million deal. You’ll now have DeAndre Hopkins and Ridley at WR, and the backfield will have Tony Pollard.

👋 The Chargers have released WR Mike Williams to save $20 million in cap space. Williams played for the Chargers for seven seasons.

👋 The Raiders have released QB Jimmy Garoppolo and WR Hunter Renfrow. The move will save the Raiders $19 million in cap space.

NHL Scores

🏒 The Edmonton Oilers dusted the Washington Capitals in Canada last night. The Oilers won 7-2, and Zach Hyman had a hat trick for Edmonton.

🏒 We had some OT action in Vancouver, where the Colorado Avalanche bested the Canucks in OT. The Canucks had a 3-0 lead until the Avalanche scored a goal with just 3 seconds left in the 2nd period. Colorado would score two more in the 3rd, and then Valeri Nichushkin would score a power play OT goal just 30 seconds into the extra period.

📺️ We’ve got plenty of games streaming tonight. Check out the schedule here because chances are, your team is playing tonight.

The Players Championship

⛳️ The PGA Tour is teeing up “The Fifth Major” at TPC Sawgrass today. The Players is a tournament that is owned by the PGA Tour, unlike the other majors, and it includes the largest payout on tour. The total purse is $25 million, and the winner gets $4.5. Normally, at least the top 50 golfers in the world are playing in this tournament, and the course ain’t easy.

👉️ Golfers will play at TPC Sawgrass’ Stadium Course in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida. The course plays 7,275 yards and is a par 72 for the tournament.

👀 The stadium course is built so fans can watch from practically anywhere on the course and have great views of the golfers. The course was also designed to make plays have a complete game, where no one style of play is favored more than another over four days. You’ll need to hit tight fairways, shape all different shots, and carry water a lot. We always end up with an epic Sunday at the Players.

📺️ You can watch the opening round on the Golf Channel from 1-7 pm and stream the action all day on ESPN+

That’s all for today.

We’ll see you tomorrow!
