The Dallas Mavericks Smother the Jazz In BBQ Sauce

The Dallas Mavericks had a cheat meal last night and smothered the Utah Jazz like they were smoking ribs in the backyard. Luka Doncic opted out of the ribs and had himself a 40-burger instead. We’ve got this + more stories that don’t even really involve anyone playing their sport right now.

Hop in for the ride.

Top NBA Performances

🏀 Luka Donic and the Dallas Mavericks destroyed the Utah Jazz last night 147-97. Donic finished with a triple-double after he scored 40 points, had 10 rebounds, and 11 assists. Kyrie Irving scored 26 and the rest of the Mavs still scored 81 points.

🏀 The 76ers escaped Washington D.C. with a close win against the Wizards. The Wizards were within 4 points of the lead most of the 4th quarter but Philly held on for the 131-126 win. Joel Embiid had 50 points and 13 rebounds and Tyrese Maxey had 26 points and 7 assists.

🏀 It takes a fully healthy Nuggets team to be playing for the LA Clippers to bring their best game. The Nuggets had their full starting lineup for the first time in a month. Nikola Jokic had the worst shooting night of his career and still finished with a triple-double, although it wouldn’t be enough for the win. The Clippers would win 111-102 after getting double digits from 3 of their 4 “stars”. Paul George scored 25, Kawhi Leonard scored 17 and James Harden dropped 20. These teams won’t face each other again until April 4th.

Urban Meyer Is Still A Worse Hire Than This Dude

Amit Patel, a former financial employee for the Jacksonville Jaguars, is accused of stealing over $22 million from the franchise over four years. Patel oversaw the virtual credit card program for the Jags and he was able to fund personal expenses and cover them up as normal transactions.

He’s accused of stealing exactly $22,221,454.40 and it appears he used the money to purchase a condominium in Ponte Vedra Beach, a Tesla, some cryptocurrency, private jet charters, luxury hotel stays, a country club membership, and luxury watches.

My only question….could he buy himself a good golf game? If so, how much does that cost?

Does Vegas Take This Into Account When Making The Odds?

Dallas Cowboys HC Mike McCarthy suffered appendicitis early on Wednesday and underwent a successful surgery. He plans to coach on Sunday when the Cowboys host the Eagles in a matchup that will determine who holds 1st place in the NFC East. The Cowboys are currently favored by -3.5 points. If McCarthy can’t coach, Brian Schottenheimer will be the playcaller for the Cowboys. Does this change your betting strategy?

Thursday Night Football

You knew this was coming. One Really Bad Football Game Is About To Be Played Tonight.

Yankees Making Offseason Moves

Just a day after the Yankees made a rare trade with the Boston Red Sox for OF Alex Verdugo, the Yanks completed a blockbuster trade with the San Diego Padres.

The New York Yankees are getting Juan Soto and CF Trent Grisham in exchange for starter Michael King, pitchers Jhony Brito and Randy Vásquez, No. 2 pitching prospect Drew Thorpe, and veteran catcher Kyle Higashioka.

Soto is a 3-time All-Star and 2020 batting champion who owns a .284 career average with 160 home runs, 483 RBIs, and 640 walks in 779 career games. He hit .275/.410/.519 with 35 home runs, 32 doubles, and 12 stolen bases over 162 games last season.

Soto, who is only 25, is a rental for the Yankees as he becomes a free agent after the 2024 season. Soto turned down a reported 15-year, $440-million extension from the Nationals in 2022 before he was traded to the Padres and it’s likely his agent will encourage him to wait until the season is over before making any deals.

That’s all for today. Enjoy whatever you watch tonight and we’ll catch up with you tomorrow.
