Diamondbacks Tie Up Series With Big Win

+ CFP Committee's Job Just Got Easier

Happy Sunday! We’ve got a huge win by the Diamondbacks and some even bigger wins on the football field. We’ll cover all that and some last-minute NFL updates.

Let’s get this Sunday Funday started.

World Series (Series Tied 2-2)

Arizona Diamondbacks 9 | Texas Rangers 2

⚾️ Merrill Kelly delivered an outstanding performance in his World Series debut, pitching seven dominant innings for the Arizona Diamondbacks.

👉️ Kelly Struck out 9 batters and had zero walks. He also gave up 3 hits for only 1 run during his 7 innings.

⚾️ The Diamondbacks offense scored 7 runs in the last 3 innings of the game. Tommy Pham was 4-4 as a DH last night. 6 different batters brought had RBIs and the thing I love the most is they scored 9 runs with only 1 homer.

📋️ D-Backs manager Torey Lovullo has said playing small ball isn’t their intent, but it sure does work for them.

📺️ Game 3 is tomorrow so we’ll catch you up with details then.

College Football Scoreboard

We’re going to rapid-fire through this because so much happened yesterday. If you want to see the full scoreboard from yesterday, check it out here.

#1 Georgia 43 | Florida 20

🏈 Georgia showed why they should still be the #1 team on Saturday. This offense has its way with Florida, amassing 486 total yards and 5 touchdowns.

#3 Ohio State 24 | Wisconsin 10

🏈Once again Ohio State was off to a slow start but found a way to win. QB Kyle McCord threw 2 INTs on bad decisions but he had Marvin Harrison Jr. to bail him out of situations. Harrison Jr. caught 2 TDs yesterday.

#4 Florida State 41 | Wake Forest 16

🏈 Jordan Travis was spreading the ball around yesterday. He completed 22 of 35 passes for 259 yards and 3 TDs. Trey Benson caught 4 of those passes for 100 yards and a touchdown and Keon Coleman caught 7 passes for 66 yards and 2 touchdowns. Benson also ran for 55 yards on 10 carries and had a rushing TD.

👀 All eyes are on FSU now. The ACC is falling apart and all Florida State needs to do is win out. There are only 5 undefeated teams left and there can only be 4 once Michigan and Ohio State play each other.

#5 Washington 42 | Stanford 33

🏈Michael Penix Jr. threw 4 TDs to carry the Huskies over Stanford. Stanford had some chances at the end to make some plays but would make some mistakes like dropping a pass on a trick play on a 4th and 2 in their own territory.

👀 Stanford isn’t very good and Washington gave up 33 to them. Washington doesn’t have it easy the rest of the way, so they’ll need to tighten up on defense to have a shot at the CFP

#6 Oklahoma 33 | Kansas 38

🏈 Boy oh boy the Big 12 loves to keep things interesting. Oklahoma lost to Kansas yesterday and it’s a good thing the Big 12 got that conference championship game back in place a few years ago because they’re going to need it. Oklahoma needs to win out to get to the conference championship in Dallas if they want to keep their hopes of getting into the CFP alive. This does make the committee’s job much easier if we have 4 other undefeated teams so I guess thanks for the Oklahoma.

BYU 6 | #7 Texas 35

🏈 Speaking of the Big 12, the Longhorns are fortunate that Oklahoma lost to Kansas. If we have a 2nd matchup between the Sooners and Longhorns in the Big 12 Championship and the Longhorns can get a revenge win, the committee won’t have to pick 1 of the two teams who split games against each other.

📈 The Longhorn defense got the job done yesterday and helped out the offense but was without their QB Quinn Ewers. The offense scored 4 TDs but the Longhorns had a lead before the offense got on the field after Xavier Worthy took a punt to the house early in the 1st quarter.

#8 Oregon 35 | #13 Utah 6

🏈 This was a lackluster showing by the Utah Utes a week after beating USC. Oregon came out fast and the offense was rolling, catching Utah flat-footed. The Oregon defense showed what everyone knew it was capable of, holding Utah to just 241 yards of total offense.

🔑The key for Oregon was holding Utah to only 2.8 yards per carry. It was enough that Utah couldn’t open the pass game as the run game wasn’t really a threat.

👀 Oregon is setting themselves up to make it into the Pac-12 championship. If Washington can’t win out, things might get messy for the CFP committee!

#17 North Carolina 42| Georgia Tech 46

🏈 North Carolina could’ve saved the season after a loss to Virginia last week. The Tar Heels just needed to win out, beat FSU in the conference championship and hope some of the other undefeated teams lose a big game. The Tar Heels aren’t going to have a shot at the CFP now. Georgia Tech had their way in the 2nd and 4th quarter. Georgia scored 24 points in the 2nd and 22 in the 4th. Tech ran 348 yards and threw for 287 yards and 4 TDs.
