Geaux Tigers

LSU captured it’s first women’s basketball title in program history. The Tigers defeated the Iowa Hawkeyes 102-85 in Sunday night’s title game. This wasn’t a story of the LSU defense finding a way to lock down the dominant Caitlin Clark. No, it was a story of players coming off the bench.

There was no slowing down Clark for the Tigers. Clark pretty much had her choice of shots from beyond the arc when she wanted and she put up 30 points. It cam down to the Tigers bench who outscored the Hawkeyes bench 30-8. That was the big difference maker in this one.

Congrats to the Tigers on the first natty!

Men’s National Championship

We tip off the Men’s National Championship tonight in Houston at 9:20pm on CBS. We’ve got the 4 seeded UCONN Huskies taking on the 5 seeded San Diego State Aztecs.

The Huskies are seeking their fifth national championship and the Aztecs are chasing their first. San Diego State barely squeezed by both Creighton and FAU in the Elite 8 and Final Four rounds and UCONN has been demolishing opponents in the tourney with an average margin of victory of 20.6 points.

The Aztecs will be relying on their stout defense and rebounding to try and shut down UCONNs perimeter game. The question will be if SDSU can shut down UCONNs big man Adama Sanogo. We feel if UCONN can shoot from the outside tonight then the Aztec defense will be stretched too thin and will have to choose whether they need to protect the interior or stop the 3’s. If UCONN can get hot from beyond the arc, they should have an easy W. They’re 13-0 this season when shooting over 40% from 3.

UCONN is a 7.5 point favorite and the O/U is 132.5.

Our prediction is UCONN wins 82-65 so we’re parlaying the spread and the over.

Another Spot Clinched In The East

The NY Knicks have clinched a playoff spot in the Eastern Conference with a 118-109 win against the Washington Wizards last night. The Nets could clinch the 6th seed in the East with 2 more wins. The Western Conference is still too close to call and we’ll bring more updates throughout the week.

Valero Texas Open

Canadian Corey Conners shot a final round 68 in the Texas Open at TPC San Antonio to give him a 1 shot victory. Conners already had a spot secured at the Masters this week but this victory prevents any last minute bids at a chance of playing in the Major at Augusta.

It’s an exciting week for golf as it’s Master’s week. We’ll be doing more golf than normal.

p.s. Tiger looks very happy to be back at Augusta in search for a 6th green jacket.

Enjoy the action tonight!
