Duke Gets Upset Twice In 1 Day!
Is it really Thursday? I guess so! If you haven’t cleaned the fridge and gotten rid of your Thanksgiving leftovers, now might be a good time. Wait…. Read this first.. thennnn go clean the fridge.
Let’s get this party started.
Blue Devils Feeling Some Type Of Way
The people of Duke University, the fans, the students, and the athletes, all got dunked on twice yesterday. Hell, it’s almost three times this week.
First, starting QB Riley Leonard entered the transfer portal on Wednesday after head coach Mike Elko(this hurts) left the program for the Texas A&M opening.
The 2nd blow came when the 7th-ranked Men’s basketball team got upset by Arkansas 80-75 in an ACC|SEC challenge game. Duke got 26 points from Kyle Filipowski and 22 points from Jeremy Roach but it wasn’t enough as Arkansas had a huge performance from Khalif Battle who scored 21 off the bench.
What a Wednesday for the Arkansas Razorbacks. They upset Duke, set an attendance record at their arena, and they got Bobby Petrino back as the football team’s offensive coordinator!

Duke is getting beat up worse than Petrino did in 2012
……
Let’s go back to Riley Leonard real quick…
Some think Leonard could be headed to Notre Dame but I’ve got 4 other destinations that I think could make sense. He could follow his head coach to A&M, but they already have Jaylen Henderson, so that might be a weird move. I think that a move to USC, Oregon, or Michigan could all be great moves for the QB. Each program has a few guys who could make the case as a starting QB next year but I think Riley Leonard would be an upgrade at each of those programs. Riley could get into a more traditional pro offense at Michigan with some small doses of it at USC. He could potentially put up huge numbers in Oregon, similar to Bo Nix.
*sorry in advance if you’re a Duke person(fan/alumni/etc) and do not like today’s post 1
Continuing the ACC|SEC Challenge
The 17th-ranked North Carolina Tar Heels defeated the #10 Tennessee Volunteers in Chapel Hill 100-92. It appears Tennessee’s defense voluntarily gave up basket to UNC as UNC outscored them 61-39 in the first half. RJ Davis and Armando Bacot scored 27 and 29 points for the Heels, respectively. Tennessee tried to make a comeback and got 37 points from Dalton Knect, but ultimately fell short.
Big Scores In The NBA
LA Lakers 133 | Detroit Pistons 107
👎️ Are the Detroit Pistons the worst team in the NBA? Yes. Is it because of their record? Yes, but also no. You can tell they’re the worst team because they gave up 35 points to D’Angelo Russell last night. We’re kind of joking as D’Angelo can get hot sometimes, like last night when he was 5-7 from 3-point land. AD and LeBron also helped in the win, with each scoring 28 and 25, respectively.
Rapid Fire Time
⛅️ The talented roster of the Phoenix Suns just can’t get out of their own way. The Suns lost 112-105 in Toronto and gave up double-digit points to 6 different players. KD scored 30 for the Suns while D-Book was 2-12 from the field and finished with 8 points.
💪 Zion Williams and the New Orleans Pelicans overpowered a Philadelphia 76ers squad missing Joel Embiid with a 124-114 win in New Orleans. Zion scored 33 aggressive points. The 76ers got 33 from Tyrese Maxey
⛏️ Nikola Jokic was back in the lineup for the Nuggets last night and he kept finding points all night. He was 12-19 from the field and 7-8 from the charity line. He finished with 32 and got help from MIchael Porter Jr. who finished with 30.
🚌 The LA Clippers had a successful business trip to the California state capital. They defeated the Sacramento Kings 131-117 last night. The Clippers starting 5 all scored in double digits. James Harden had 26 and Kawhi Leonard had a team high 34. De’Aaron Fox had 40 for the Kings. ⏩️ The Clippers got off to a fast start, outscoring the Kings 72-50 in the first half.
Hot Off The Press In The NHL
📰 The Chicago Blackhawks have released Corey Perry following an investigation from the front office and some daily escalations by the team to keep Perry off the ice. The team said an internal investigation had determined Perry "engaged in conduct that is unacceptable and in violation of both the terms of his Standard Player's Contract and the Blackhawks' internal policies intended to promote professional and safe work environments." No one really knows what happened with the 38-year-old winger and we may never find out.
Scoreboard Check
🛣️ The Washington Capitals got a 2-1 road win against the LA Kings in the 2nd game of their Pacific Coast road trip. The Caps lost to the San Jose Sharks on Monday and they will complete their beach vacation with a game against the Anaheim Ducks tonight. The Caps will travel to the desert after this for matchups against Vegas and Arizona.
🗽The New York Rangers grabbed a 3-2 win against the Detroit Red Wings. Artemi Panarin, K’Andre Miller, and Jimmy Vesey scored for the Rangers.
👉️The Montreal Canadiens beat the Columbus Blue Jackets 4-2 last night. It was 2-2 heading into the final period and Montreal’s Joel Armia would score the go-ahead goal with 3 minutes left. The Habs would score an empty netter in the final minute.
Thursday Night Football
Unfortunately, we have to wait until bowl season to get college football back on a Thursday. Don’t fret, it’s not too far away.
Fortunately, we have a good TNF matchup tonight. Well… maybe.
The 6-5 Seattle Seahawks travel to Dallas to face the 8-3 Cowboys.
📺️ Gametime is 8:15 pm ET on Prime Video. Can Amazon stay impartial when a Seattle-based team is playing on its broadcasting network? Jeff Bezos doesn’t have the power to change NFL outcomes, does he? Don’t let those next-gen stats ruin your ability to think! (that’s enough for conspiracies today).
💰️ The Cowboys are favorited by -7 points here and the O/U is 46.5 The Cowboys have been beating the bag out of teams at home so I’m taking the -7. Both teams are coming off a full week of rest as they both played on Thanksgiving, just an FYI.
That’s all for today. We’ll be back tomorrow to question Aaron Rodgers and his return. Is there a better QB story than him this year? Check in tomorrow to find out.
Thanks for reading and have a great day.
