+ Who Will Advance To The World Series?
What a wild Sunday in the NFL. We’re going to summarize every game as best we can because there were some wild games with unexpected results.
Let’s get going.
NFL Sunday
Las Vegas (3-4) 12 | Chicago (2-5) 30
👀 The Bears started an undrafted rookie and won by a healthy margin against the Raiders. Tyson Bagent, who came from D2 Shepherd University completed 72% of his passes for Chicago and threw 1 TD. Fun stuff for Chicago
Cleveland (4-2) 39 | Indianapolis (3-4) 38
👉️ This was possibly the wildest game of the weekend. This was a battle of backup QBs after Deshaun Watson left the game and Anthony Richardson is out with a shoulder injury. Gardner Minshew played a pretty decent game threw 1 INT and had 3 fumbles. One of the fumbles happened when Minshew was backed up in the Colts’ own endzone and Myles Garrett stripped the ball and it was recovered by the Browns for a TD.
👀The Colts outgained the Browns by 140 yards but the turnovers were a difference maker along with late penalties on the Colts during the Browns’ final drive. The game could’ve been sealed when Browns’ QB P.J. Walker fumbled in the redzone and it was recovered by the Colts but there was an illegal contact call in the secondary. A subsequent pass interference was called giving the Browns the ball at the 1-yard line where they would score the game-winning touchdown with 15 seconds left.
Buffalo (4-3) 25 | New England (2-5) 29
🎉 Bill Belichick got his 300th win yesterday so I guess he won’t be able to forget this season even if he tried. But hey, we’ve left the Patriots alone all season even though they stink, but they won yesterday.. so let’s leave ‘em alone today
👎️ A thumbs down is a very appropriate way to explain the Bills’ performance yesterday. They are Super Bowl contenders who also look like they can be beaten by any team in the NFL? I don’t know how else to explain them. The offense looked okay but Bills defense was terrible. They’ve got the Bucs on a short week and you can’t sleep on Baker Mayfield.
Washington (3-4) 7 | NY Giants (2-5) 14
💸 I can see the dollars just floating away. Which dollars you might ask? The ones the Giants spent on Danny Dimes. 82 million fully guaranteed dollars just to be outperformed by your backup QB
📈 Tyrod Taylor (18/29, 279 yards, 2 TDs) maybe isn’t the savior the Giants are looking for, but I think he’s a decent value when you consider the amount spent on him vs Mr. Dimes.
❌ The Commanders’ offense didn’t really show up. Sam Howell was sacked 6 times, the run game never really got going and Howell threw an INT. Not ideal when you’re defense only lets up 14 points.
Atlanta (4-3) 16 | Tampa Bay (3-3) 13
🦵 The Falcons got their 4th win of the season on a walk-off field goal. Yup, a 51-yarder from Younghoe Koo spoiled the Bucs’ day as Tampa couldn’t take advantage of Desmond Ridders’ 3 turnovers.
Detroit (5-2) 6 | Baltimore (5-2) 32
🤮 The Detroit Lions weren’t themselves yesterday as they got pummeled by the Baltimore Ravens. I’m not sure what’s more surprising…the fact that Detroit looked like the Lions from a decade ago or the fact that the Ravens are a very sneaky 5-2.
Pittsburgh (4-2) 24 | LA Rams (3-4) 17
➕ Pittsburgh scored 14 points in the 4th quarter to get a comeback win on the road and you gotta give them respect when respect is due.
➖ The Rams definitely should’ve had an opportunity to get down the field at the end of the game but the refs gave Kenny Pickett a very favorable spot on a 4th down play where he was clearly short. Moral of the story is don’t give up big pass plays in the last quarter when you’ve got a lead and let the other team back into the game.
Arizona (1-6) 10 | Seattle (4-2) 20
👀Seattle just squeaked out a win at home thanks to their defense. The Seahawks turned the ball over 3 times but held the Cardinals to just under 250 yards of total offense. The Seahawks will need to clean some things up as they face a nasty Browns defense next and then a potent Ravens offense after that.
Green Bay (2-4) 17 | Denver (2-5) 19
📉 Yes, Denver won. No, I’m not going to say things are looking up for them. Things also aren’t looking up for Green Bay. Jordan Love(21/31, 180 yards, 2 TD, 1 INT) hasn’t been playing very well since his week 1 debut. Love has made some questionable decisions in the passing game and it’s partially due to Green Bay not getting off to a hot start in every game. Green Bay has scored 6 points in the first half of their last 4 games.
LA Chargers (2-4) 17 | Kansas City (6-1) 31
📈 The Chiefs finally got the offense rolling last night. Patrick Mahomes was 32/42 for 424 yards, 4 TDs, and 1 INT. He connected with Travis Kelce 12 times for 179 yards and 1 TD.
📉 The Chargers have so much potential and yet it’s just another disappointing game. Justin Herbert (17/30, 259 yards, 1 TD, 2 INT) and co. started out strong scoring 17 points in the first half, only to be blanked in the final 2 quarters. Head coach Brandon Staley is definitely on the hot seat.
Miami (5-2) 17 | Philadelphia (6-1) 31
💪 We were unsure of who the Eagles really were up to this point. They had some close games where they just didn’t look like the team of last year but they still found a way to win games. The Eagles looked better than the Dolphins all night and they looked a little tougher too.
👉️ Jalen Hurts (23/32, 279 yards, 2 TDs, 1 INT) made some big plays when the Eagles needed it and it of course helps when you have a DUDE like A.J. Brown to go and get the ball.
📸 The Dolphins might be fun and flashy but the Eagles played the more complete game last night. The Dolphins offense was held to just 244 total yards and their lowest point total of the season
🟨 One thing to note about this game is the Dolphins received 10 penalties for 70 yards and the Eagles had zero penalties. We’re not going to blame anything on the refs but there were definitely some controversial calls/no-calls in this game. Check out this Mike McDaniel parody account if you want to explore some of the controversy.
