Eagles Fly High, But The Seahawks Fly Higher

First things first. What a Monday Night finish in Seattle. We’re going to run through a big Seahawks win, why I agree with Tom Brady on something, and then we’ve got some NBA and NHL talk.

Let’s Go.

Monday Night Rally

The Seattle Seahawks stunned the Philadelphia Eagles 20-17 in a thrilling Monday night game, putting them back in the NFC playoff race.

What Happened?

The Eagles had a 17-10 lead in the 4th quarter and Seattle kicked a field goal to make it 17-13 with 10 minutes to go.

Seattle would make some stops and get the ball back late in the fourth. Backup QB Drew Lock led the Seahawks on a 92-yard touchdown drive in the final minute. The drive included some perfectly thrown balls and some great plays by the Seahawks receivers.

DK Metcalf would make this amazing grab for a first down.

Then DK made another huge play on the drive to set up the TD throw.

Drew Lock threw an epic ball to Smith-Njigba for the winning TD.

The Eagles would get the ball back with 30 seconds left but Jalen Hurts would throw an interception on what’s being considered a missed call by the refs.

This is a 3-game slide for the Eagles as they’ve lost to San Francisco, Dallas, and now Seattle in the last 3 weeks. Philly still clinched the playoffs even without a win but 1st place in the NFC East is still up for grabs. The Eagles for sure have an easier schedule than the Cowboys to finish out the season. Philly faces the Giants twice and the Cardinals.

As for the Seahawks and their playoff hopes, they currently sit just outside the wild card spot, but they have the 8 seed right now. If the Seahawks win out against the Titans, Steelers, and Cardinals, they should be in.

Why I Agree With Tom Brady

The NFL had suspended Pittsburgh Steelers safety Damontae Kazee after he laid a hit on Michael Pittman Jr. on Sunday. Kazee is suspended for the rest of the year without pay.

Watch the hit first.

I have a couple of points on this.

  • If you are Gardner Minshew, don’t throw this ball into this tiny window and put your receivers in harm’s way

  • If you’re Michael Pittman Jr., don’t make yourself “defenseless” by diving for this ball. This is football you’re and you should expect to be hit by the defense

  • If you Kazee, this was a helluva play to dislodge the ball from the receiver and he should not be suspended

  • Finally, the NFL should be fining Gardner Minshew for making a bad decision and throwing the ball.

So what did Tom Brady have to say?

"Nobody likes seeing players get hurt. But hard hits happen, QBs should not be throwing the ball in areas where they are exposing their own teammates to these types of hits. Coaches need to coach better, QBs need to read coverages and throw the ball to the right places, and defenders should aim for the right hitting areas. To put the blame on the (defensive) player all the time is just flat-out wrong. Need better QB play! It's not OK QBs to get your WRs hit because of your bad decisions,"

Thanks, Tom! We totally agree.

Los Angeles Talk

Lakers Hang Banner

The Lakers hung their NBA in-season tournament championship banner last ngiht and it was a display that could not have been more dramatic. I’m not sure who allowed this to happen and maybe the NBA is making it mandatory, but COME ON, MAN! You can’t hang an in-season tournament banner up in your arena. That’s weak stuff

Are The Clippers Getting Into Championship Form?

The Clippers are turning the James Harden experiment around and have won 8 straight as a group. Last night the Clippers defeated the Indiana Pacers 151-127. Kawhi Leonard and Paul George were the workhorses for most of the game but James Harden scored 21 points in the 4th quarter to help seal the deal. Harden finished with 35 points on the night, his best scoring effort with the Clippers this season. Harden was 8 of 11 from 3-point land.

Another Coach Fired In The NHL

The Ottawa Senators fired their head coach D.J. Smith yesterday. Ottawa lost four straight games and lost five of the last six and they sit in last place of the Atlantic Division. Smith was in his 5th season with the team and he’s missed the playoffs every year. Jacques Martin will be the interim head coach. Martin

Crosby Moves Up One Spot On All-Time Scoring List

Sidney Crosby surpasses Mark Recchi to move to 13th on the all-time scoring list with 1535 career points. He hit the career mark when assisted Jake Guentel on a a power play goal. Crosby would also score his own power-play goal later in the game that would eventually be the game-winner.
