Fantastic Finishes

+ Rapid Fire Recap

Happy Monday and what a Sunday! We had great games all Sunday but none had a more fantastic finish than the Ravens in overtime. Let’s do a quick recap of all the games, we’ll talk about our double matchup for MNF and then we’ll go over what we missed from Saturday.

Here we go.

NFL Sunday

🏈 The Dallas Cowboys dominated the Philadelphia Eagles and grabbed a huge NFC East win with a 33-13 home score. The Eagles lost 3 fumbles and Philly’s only TD came from their defense.

🏈The Chiefs lost another game where there was controversy on the last drive. Last week the refs missed a blatant PI call and this week the refs took back a touchdown when Kadarius Toney scored on a lateral pass from Travis Kelce but Toney was called for offsides as he was lined up in the neutral zone. The Bills outplayed the Chiefs from the jump and won 20-17.

🏈The Denver Broncos slowly rolled over the LA Chargers with a 24-7 win in LA. Russell Wilson threw 2 TD passes and Justin Herbert fractured his index finger on his throwing hand.

🏈I think this game is just starting as the Minnesota Vikings have a 3-0 lead over the Las Vegas Raiders…. Oh wait, that game is over? This was the lowest-scoring game in the NFL in 16 years. The Vikings kicked the game-winning field goal with 2 minutes left in the 4th quarter. Total yards must’ve been at an all-time low too. The Vikings finished with 231 yards and the Raiders finished with 202 yards.

🏈 The SF 49ers started slow against the Seattle Seahawks but Purdy and Co. eventually got the offense going and won 28-16. Brock Purdy threw for a career-best 368 yards and had 2 TDs and 1 INT. Deebo Samuel had 149 receiving yards and a TD on 7 receptions. Christian McCaffrey also had a day on the ground with 145 rushing yards on 16 carries.

🏈 J……E……T…….S… JETS JETS JETS! The New York Jets surprised everyone in New Jersey yesterday and grabbed a 30-6 over the Houston Texans. Umm, Zach Wilson was 27/36 for 301 yards and 2 TDs. The Jets defense held CJ Stroud to only 91 passing yards. The Jets are now 5-8 and 3rd in the AFC East.

🏈 The Tampa Bay Bucs got a big 29-25 win after Baker Mayfield threw an 11-yard TD pass to Cade Otton with 31 seconds remaining in the game. Baker only threw for 144 yards but the Bucs managed the ground game and got 148 rushing yards. The Bucs take first place in the NFC South with this win and currently have a 6-7 record.

🏈The Chicago Bears upset the Detroit Lions with a 28-13 win. Justin Fields threw for a TD and ran for another. It looks like some of the mid-season trades are paying off for the Bears’ defense as they intercepted Jared Goff 2 times and sacked him 4 times

🏈The Cleveland Browns beat the Jacksonville Jaguars 31-27. At the beginning of the season, we were wondering if the Jags could be a Super Bowl contender but now the only question that remains is….. IS JOE FLACCO ELITE? Flacco came off his couch a few weeks ago and has now been named the starter for the Browns for the remainder of the season. Joe Flacco threw the ball 45 times and completed 26 passes for 3 TDs and 1 INT.

🏈Backup Jake Browning got the job done again for Cincinnati as the Bengals won 34-14 in an AFC matchup vs the Indianapolis Colts. Browning was 18/24 for 275 yards and threw 2 TDs. Joe Mixon rushed for 79 yards and a TD on 21 carries.

🏈The New Orleans Saints got a 28-6 win over the worst team in the NFL. The Saints had 207 total yards and were outgained by the Panthers. Not much more needs to be said about this game.

🏈WALK OFF PUNT RETURN. In his first game returning punts in the NFL, Tylan Wallace made lemonade when he was handed some lemons. Wallace caught a clean punt, made a move, slipped a tackle, and was off to the races down the sideline where he would get tripped up but then keep his balance and THE GAME WAS OVER. Walk-off returns… WE’LL TAKE MORE OF THAT ON A SUNDAY!

What Else Happened Over The Weekend?

NBA Cup

The Los Angeles Lakers defeated the Indiana Pacers 123-109 on Saturday to win the first-ever NBA In-Season Tournament. Anthony Davis had a dominant night for the Lakers with 41 points and 20 REBOUNDS. LeBron took a back seat with scoring as Austin Reaves also poured in 28 points and had some impressive finishes at the rim.

💰️ All players and coaches for the Lakers got a $500k payment for winning the tournament and the Pacers got paid $200k as the runner up

👀Is this win a problem for the Lakers? No team that won an NBA Finals has ever won the in-season tournament. 😆

Shohei Ohtani And The IRS Sign A Massive Contract

Shohei Ohtani has agreed to a 10-year, $700 million contract to join the Los Angeles Dodgers. Check out this article from The Ringer and see why this is the craziest contract we’ve ever seen.

And the point on the IRS… yes it’s a joke but also not really. Ohtani is going to be paying a lot of people out of his $70 million yearly salary. I guess these are good problems to have though!

Get your chicken cutlets ready and enjoy the games tonight!
