The First Ever Win, Overturned?!

+ The D-Wade Show

Morning! We’re ready to get Wednesday off to a great start, and we hope you are, too!

Just two days after the Celtics beat the Warriors by 52 points, Boston had a win overturned!

The basketball craze doesn’t end there. We’ll dig into more NBA news, look at NHL stats, and update you on the NFL franchise tag deadline.

Let’s go.

Celtics Win Overturned + The D-Wade Show

The Boston Celtics were up 22 points in the 4th quarter in a matchup with the Cavaliers in Cleveland.

Dean Wade was the hometown hero. He hit five 3-pointers in the final quarter, had 20 points in the fourth, and finished with 23 on the night. Wade scored more points than the entire Celtics squad in the fourth!

Now, this epic comeback from the D-Wade and the Cavs was almost complete, except Jayson Tatum had the ball for Boston in the final seconds.

With the clock counting down, Tatum drove to the right side of elbow, gave a little push off, pulled up for a jumper and missed. BUT WAIT…a foul was called! The refs called Darius Garland for a foul for contacting Tatum, but after further review, it was overturned, and the refs said Tatum initiated the contact!

GAME OVER!

Okay so technically the Celtics never won because Tatum never shot the free throws, and technically he would’ve had to hit two free throws to win, but technically YOU GET THE POINT.

P.S. All of you people complaining that Tatum doesn’t have room to land on the shot, please stop. It’s one of the dumbest rules in the NBA.

Suns @ Nuggets Goes Into OT

The Phoenix Suns finally played like a playoff team, except they didn’t. Phoenix had a 22-point lead on the Denver Nuggets and then blew it, similar to how they blew a comeback against the Thunder on Sunday.

Phoenix played good defense all night but couldn’t score in the 4th quarter as they were outscored 21-12. OT was a different story, though, especially for Kevin Durant. KD scored 8 of his 35 points in OT, and get this…..

The Suns scored more points in the 5 minutes of OT than the 12 minutes in the 4th quarter!

Final score was 117-107.

Big Night For Luka, But Mavs Fall Short

Luka Doncic scored 39 points last night in a matchup against the Indiana Pacers, but the Dallas Mavericks fell short 137-120. Even with Luka having a big first half, the Mavs went into the locker room down 4. The Pacers blew the doors off this in the second half, outscoring the Mavs by 14 in the third. Nine of the Pacers players had double-digit points, making this a full-team effort.

p.s. Luka had a triple-double with 10 rebounds and 11 assists.

Devils Playoff Hopes Flaming Out

The NJ Devils tried to light a fire under the team by firing their head coach naming Travis Green the interim HC. It’s a bit of a tough ask to have your game leading the squad be against the NHL’s best team, the Florida Panthers. Nick cousins had 2 goals for the Panthers last night.

Bruins vs Oilers

The Boston Bruins hosted the Edmonton Oilers last night, and it was one heck of a defensive matchup. The first goal of the night came from the Bruins’ Pavel Zacha four minutes into the third period, and Edmonton had to tie it up with under two minutes left in regulation with a Leon Draisaitl goal.

It was up to Leon to finish the game off for the Oilers, as he put one in the back of the net two minutes into OT.

NFL News

We’ve got a few things flying around the league as the franchise tag window ended yesterday, and some releases are happening around the league. Let’s take a closer look.

Who was tagged?

🏈 Tee Higgins, Cincinnati Bengals WR

🏈L'Jarius Sneed, Kansas City Chiefs CB

🏈Brian Burns, Carolina Panthers EDGE

🏈Justin Madubuike, Baltimore Ravens DT

🏈Antoine Winfield, Tampa Bay Buccaneers S

Who Got Released or Didn’t Get Tagged?

🏈 The Giants didn’t use the tag on Saquon Barkley. He’ll be able to enter the free market this year and is already favoring the Houston Texans as a landing spot.

🏈The Dolphins have released linebacker Jerome Baker in a move that will save the team $10 mil against the cap this year.

🏈The LA Chargers have released veteran linebacker and captain Eric Kendricks. The Chargers currently exceed the salary cap by almost $20 million, and this move will free up $6.5 million in cap space.

🏈All the legions of boom must end, whatever version we may be on. The Seahawks are releasing safeties Jamal Adams and Quandre Diggs, and they are also releasing Will Dissly. These moves will save at least $20 million in cap space.
