And With The First Pick In The NBA Draft, The San Antonio Spurs Select
Today's Estimated Reading Time: 3 minutes and 35 seconds
Happy Friday and welcome to the weekend. We’ve got the NBA draft, some NBA trades, a college walk-off, a college payday, and a little golf.
Let’s have some fun on a Friday.
NBA Draft
The San Antonio Spurs selected 7’5” phenom Viktor Wembenyama with the first pick in the NBA draft. Wembanyama said this is "One of the best feelings of my life. Probably the best night of my life. I've been dreaming about this for so long. It's a dream come true. It's incredible."
In a somewhat hilarious move, The Spurs used all 5 minutes that they had to make the pick. Wembanyama is considered the best prospect since LeBron James out of high school.
Brandon Miller, a small forward from Alabama, went to the Charlotte Hornets with the 2nd pick.
The Portland Trailblazers to PG Scoot Henderson with the 3rd pick, opening the door to questions about Damian Lillard’s future with the team.
The Thompson twins made a splash in history being the first twins to get drafted in the top 5 spots. Amen is heading to Houston as a PG for the Rockets. Ausar is heading to Detroit to be a SG for the Pistons.
Here is something else interesting, this draft had two first-rounders named Kobe.. and one of them is heading to Los Angeles. Kobe Brown was the final pick in the first round and is a PF heading to the LA Clippers out of Missouri.
NBA Trades
The Wizards made some trade moves on Wednesday in a 3 team deal with Boston and Memphis.
The Wizards made another with Golden State yesterday, trading Chris Paul to the Warriors along with a No. 57 pick. Golden State is sending back Jordan Poole, Patrick Baldwin Jr., Ryan Rollins, a 2027 second-round pick, and a 2030 protected first-round pick.
With the Warriors getting rid of Poole, does this mean they’ll resign Draymond Green and have a team of veterans trying to find a way to another NBA Championship? We’ll find out soon enough.
Walking Off To The World Series
The LSU Tigers upset the Wake Forest Demon Deacons on Thursday night with a walk-off banger in the 11th inning to send the Tigers to the College Baseball World Series.
This was a scoreless game all the up to the homer in the bottom of the 11th where the pitching from both sides was clean and the fielders made some outstanding plays to keep runners off bases. LSU only gave up 3 hits the entire game and Wake Forest wasn’t far behind as they only gave up 5, it just happened that 2 of the hits were the two runs that came in on the walk-off.

A New Deal
Dan Hurley just led the UCONN Huskies Men’s Basketball Team on a crazy run to a National Championship this year. In doing so, he got a lot of people paid. How so? Preseason odds were like +8000 so if you put a hundo down on the Huskies, your pockets are now big and fluffy.
Well now Dan Hurley’s pockets are full and we’re not talking Husky Bucks (IYKYK), we’re talking cold hard US DOLLARS, more specifically, $33 million of them. Hurley will be the highest-paid state employee in Connecticut with this new 6-year deal.
Congrats to Danny, now go win another one!
Travelers Championship
Honestly, we’re getting a little tired of golf. We’re not tired of watching it, we’re just sick of how easy all these guys make it look. They just pick this little white ball off the ground with what looks like such little effort and the rest of us average joes would probably be better off just picking up a new habit altogether.
In the opening round of Travelers, Denny McCarthy went 10 under. Yup, he made 10 birdies and 8 pars. Adam Scott and Keegan Bradley both shot 8 under and start today 2 shots back from the lead.
Golf isn’t just hard, it’s a funny game too. Rory would’ve shot even par but he finished 2 under yesterday due to his very first ace on the PGA Tour…. And it was from 214 yards!!
ACE FOR RORY!
@McIlroyRory holes it from 214 yards @TravelersChamp 🔥
