Game 7, USMNT Wins + more

Howdy! Happy Monday. We had an exciting weekend, with Scottie Scheffler winning again on the PGA tour, the US Men’s National Team got an opening win in Copa America, and we’ve got game 7 in the Stanley Cup Final tonight. It’s a thing of beauty.

Let’s take a closer look at everything and get you on your way.

Stanley Cup Game 7

We said it the other day when the Edmonton Oilers dominated game 4. You’ve got win game 5 to get a game 6 and then do the same to get a game 7.

We’ve got all the storylines tonight. The Oilers are looking to become the only team since 1942 to come back from a 3-game deficit in the Stanley Cup Finals. Canada hasn’t had a Stanley Cup win in 31 years. The best player in the world, Connor McDavid, hasn’t reached a Stanley Cup before this. The Florida Panthers are looking for the franchise’s first Stanley Cup win.

📺️ Game time is set for 8 p.m. ET on ABC tonight. The odds are pretty even tonight. It’s -110 for either team to win straight up, over 5.5 goals is +120, and under is -150.

DO NOT MISS THIS GAME TONIGHT!

Scottie Gets 6th Win of the Season

What can we even write about anymore? Scottie Scheffler won again on the PGA Tour, and this tweet sums up his 2024 events perfectly.

Scottie won the Travelers Championship which was a designated event and had a $20 million total purse. He had to beat his buddy Tom Kim in a playoff hole where Kim put his 2nd shot into a bunker and practically gave Scottie the win, but nonetheless, Scottie has been playing lights out. His record this year is incredible and his earnings are too.

Scottie has won $27,696,858 so far this year and we still have more than 2 months left in the season. Even his caddie, Ted Scott, has won $2.6 million which is more money than 80% of tour players are making.

USMNT Gets a Copa Win

25-year-old Christian Pulisic continues to be America’s most important soccer player.

The US Men’s National Team hosted Bolivia at AT&T Stadium in Dallas for their opener of Copa America.

The match started with a bang as Christian Pulisic scored 3 minutes into the game with a little bender from the top corner of the box.

Pulisic then assisted on a goal scored by Folarin Balogun in the 44th minute. The US went on to win 2-0 and will play Panama on Thursday at 6 pm.

College World Series Goes To Game 3

One of the great events to take place in June is the College World Series of baseball. Metal bats, future first-round draft picks, and an electric environment are what you’ll find at the center of the country and the center of the college World Series. All the games are played in Omaha, Nebraska, and we’ve got the final elimination game tonight at 7 pm on ESPN.

It’s winner-take-all tonight after Texas A&M beat the top-ranked Tennessee Volunteers 9-5 in Game 1, and the Vols returned the favor in Game 2 with a 4-1 victory.

USA’s Cricket Dreams Are Ended

We know nothing about cricket here except it supposed to be a pretty thrilling event if you ever get to catch it live.

Here’s what you need to know. The United States entered the Cricket World Cup and made it further than anyone imagined. The US beat Canada in the first round and upset Pakistan in the second round. They advanced to the quarterfinals, where they faced the reigning champs, England.

It was the first matchup between England and the US and England had a 10-wicket victory.

Seriously, we have no idea what any of this means. If you don’t either, watch this little video to get a quick understanding.

JJ Redick Introduced as Lakers Coach

JJ Redick has been introduced as the head coach of the LA Lakers. It comes at a pertinent time when LeBron can accept or decline his player option with LA. If he declines, he can go back to the open market and renegotiate a deal with LA or sign with another team. You have to think that LeBron will be a Laker next year after the team fired Darvin Ham and hired JJ. By the way, this will be LeBron’s 9th head coach in his career, and I think he might go through more head coaches than he does bottles of salsa throughout an entire year of taco Tuesdays.

Here’s an interesting article about first time head coaches that have played in the NBA but never had any coaching experience. JJ fits perfectly in this category. The question is how successful will he and the Lakers be next season?

That’s a great start to the sports week. We’ll be back on Wednesday when we'll have a Stanley Cup winner and take a closer look at the NBA draft.

Have a day!
