Headed to Houston

Today’s Estimated Reading Time: 3 Minutes and 13 Seconds

Good Morning. This is the Daily Breakroom. We deliver you the quickest Sunday sports update so you can get back to your pancakes.

Let’s get to it.

Half of a Final Four

3 Gonzaga vs 4 UCONN

How do we make this short and sweet(we probably won’t).

UConn embarrassed Gonzaga in the Elite 8. Have a nice Sunday!

It could be as simple as that but we’ll add a bit more color for you. After Gonzaga had a last second win over UCLA, you couldn’t help but think UCONN might just be able to make some magic on Saturday. It was a battle in the first half but you could feel the UCONN Huskies had strong control over the Gonzaga Bulldogs as the score at the end of the first half was 39-32.

The Bulldogs were no match for the Huskies in the 2nd half as they were outscored 43-22. Gonzaga went 7 for 29 and never had a chance to get back into the game.

UCONN is heading to Houston for the Final Four and the stars are aligning. Get this.. The Huskies have won the national championship in 2004, 2011, and 2014. Guess what all these have common? The final fours were in Texas! We’re not kidding. The 2004 Final Four was in San Antonio. 2011? Houston. 2014? Dallas. We’ll see if the Huskies are up for the competition next weekend, they’ll be facing either Miami or Texas.

3 Kansas State vs 9 Florida Atlantic

They call it March Madness for a reason and FAU is taking it all in. FAU barely scraped by Memphis in the first round. Then FAU faced a 16 seed in the second round and we were questioning whether they could actually get through the Sweet 16 and Elite 8. Question no more. FAU walked right over 4 seeded Tennessee on Thursday night and they took care of business against 3 seeded Kansas State last night.

This was a close one last night as Kansas State and FAU traded lead changes the entire game. It came down to the last possession as you hope an Elite 8 game would. Kansas State couldn’t get a last second shot up to take the game into OT and they were sent home. FAU will be heading to Houston for their first Final Four ever.

I hope someone put a few bucks on FAU in the beginning of the season. The odds for a natty were +250,000. Who would’ve guessed!

Today’s Matchups

The excitement continues on Sunday as we’ve got 4 more teams attempting to win their way into the Final Four. It’s the story of the 5 seeds today so make sure you tune in

Today’s afternoon game will feature 5 seeded San Diego State taking on 6 seeded Creighton at 2:20pm on CBS. Creighton was shooting lights out on Friday night and we’ll see if they’ve lost their touch in a few hours.

The night game would be a helluva matchup on the gridiron, but we’ll take it on the court too. 2 seeded Texas will be facing 5 seeded Miami at 5:05pm on CBS. Both these teams feature their own talented offenses and we’ll see if Miami’s speed can overcome the Longhorn’s physical play.

Dell Match Play

The Dell Match Play has reached its final four stage. Today we get to see Scottie Scheffler go head to head with Sam Burns and Rory McIlroy will take on Cameron Young. The winners of those matchups will face each other in the afternoon to see who gets to take home the $3.5 million top prize. Tune into The GOLF Channel from 10am-2pm to catch the semi finals and then switch over to NBC from 2pm-6pm for the championship round.

Who knows.. we might get a Rory and Scottie final. What a treat!

Pour a little extra syrup on those pancakes, you deserve it!

and remember… Don’t let your Mondays ruin your Sundays!

Cheers
