Lets get to it.

Injuries in the NBA

The Los Angeles Lakers were making an end of season playoff push and things just got a bit more difficult. On Sunday night, LeBron James had some discomfort after suffering a non-contact injury. It’s expected he’ll miss a few weeks and is undergoing further evaluation.

In another non-contact injury, Charlotte Hornets’ guard LaMelo Ball suffered a fractured in his right ankle. There is no news on his return yet. The Hornets are the bottom of the Eastern conference. I would assume LaMelo is not making a return this season.

NBA Scores

The New York Knicks and Miami Heat both had big wins against top Eastern Conference teams as the two teams try to avoid a play-in tournament for playoffs.

The Knicks defeated the Boston Celtics 109-94.

The Heat defeated the Philadelphia 76ers 101-99.

Big Money in the MLB

The San Diego Padres have one of the highest payrolls in MLB and it’s growing. The Padres wanted to secure third baseman Manny Machado for the long term and two parties are now finalizing an 11-year, $350 million contract extension. Machado is coming off of one his best years where he finished second in NL MVP voting.

Another Milestone

I’m not sure if it’s a surprise, but Connor McDavid keeps delivering. McDavid, who just surpassed his season high for goals, scored his 50th last night in an Edmonton Oilers’ loss to the NHL’s best team, the Boston Bruins. 50 goals is a gold standard for NHLers as roughly 100 players have ever been able to do it. McDavid will keep growing this milestone mark as the Oilers have over 20 games remaining in the season. Check out the goal here.

We love being extra at the Daily Breakroom. So here’s an extra NHL highlight for you! Mikko Rantanen makes an awesome play to knock down a puck on a clear by the goalie and you can watch the rest. Enjoy.
