From Inmate to Olympian!
Happy Monday!
We’re here to give you an Olympic update but before we do we need to mention…
We’ve got football this weekend and do you know what the means?
FOOTBALL EVERY SINGLE WEEKEND UNTIL FEBRUARY.
That’s better than banana bread at work dudes. HELL YEA.
Anyways, we’ve got about a week of the olympics left, so let’s do a little run down and see how America is doing and who’s winning what.

Medal Counts
You can see how many medals have been given and how each country is doing by clicking here.
Right now, China is leading all countries with gold as they have 21, and USA has 19.
The US dominates the overall medal count, though, as we have 72 total medals, including 27 silvers and 26 bronzes.
China is in 2nd place with 51 total medals, including 17 silvers and 13 bronzes.
Who’s winning gold medals for the US?
🥇 The Women’s gymnastic team is doing pretty awesome and that’s no surprise. They won the team gold, and Simone Biles won the women’s all around and the vault. Somehow, Sunisa Lee only won a bronze medal for her epic uneven bars performance.
🥇 Noah Lyles won the 100m dash for the men in what ended up being an epic race. You should watch it right here.
🥇 Ryan Crouser won a gold in the men’s shot put by throwing the 16-pound ball 25 yards.
🥇Kristen Faulker won gold in the women’s cycling road race.
🥇 We’re not even messing around, we didn’t know we were good at this but FENCING…..The US won the Women’s Foil team gold, and Lee Kiefer won the women’s gold. FUN FACT: Fencing has been around since 1190 BC and didn’t become an organized sport in the US until 1891.
🥇 The US won a gold in men’s rowing four man rowing. I guess all that IVY League rowing paid off finally
🥇 Skeet shooter Vincent Hancock won the gold in the Men’s Skeet event.
🥇 Swimming has brought the most gold medals for America. Katie Ledecky won the 800 m freestyle and the 1500 m freestyle. Kate Douglass won the 200m breaststroke. Torri Huske won the 100m butterfly. The Women’s squad won the 4 × 100m medley relay. Bobby Finke won the 1500m freestyle. The Men’s team won the 4 ×100m freestyle relay, and the US won gold in the mixed 4 × 100m medley relay.
🥇 The best gold of all came yesterday when Scottie Scheffler continued his epic season as a golfer. While it looked like Jon Rahm was going to run away with a gold medal, he fumbled the back 9, and Scottie Scheffler had an epic final round where he shot a bogey-free 62 in the final round. Scottie has won $30 million this year, the Masters, RBC, The PLAYERS, he got arrested, and now he’s an Olympic gold medalist. It’s a helluva 2024 and the only thing criminal about him is how much he’s killing the competition.
What should we be looking out for this week?
🏀 The Men’s basketball team is facing Brazil at 3:30 pm ET tomorrow in the quarterfinals. Steve Kerr isn’t losing any focus, though. He thinks Brazil is the most physical team in the Olympics.
🏀 The Women’s squad will face Nigeria in the quarterfinals on Wednesday at 3:30 pm ET.
🏀 In 3×3 bball, the women’s team faces Spain at 11:30 am ET in the semifinals.
👉️ We’ve got Americans competing in many more events. Diving, sprinting on the track, volleyball, water polo, and much more. Check out the full schedule here.
That’s all for today. We’re still sitting on the sidelines a bit longer as we wait for football to fully kick off. Have a great week!
