I've Got a Fever & The Only Prescription Is More Game 7's

Good Morning! This might possibly be one of the best weeks in sports. Conference play is heating up in college football, we’re almost midway through the NFL season(that’s weird) and we’re starting to figure out who might be the real deal and who’s not, we have football on every single night of the week, we have another game 7 in the MLB playoffs, the NHL is back, and the NBA opens the regular season tonight. Hot Diggity Dog!

MLB Playoffs

Texas Rangers Advance To The World Series!

⏩️ The Rangers hit the fast-forward button in this game with a Corey Seager solo home run shot in the top of the 1st. The Rangers would score 3 runs in the opening inning and Cristian Javier was pulled from the mound with 1 out remaining

⚾️ Adolis Garcia was named ALCS MVP after he hit 2 homers last night and had 5 RBIs and set a postseason record for with 15 RBIs in one series.

🚌The Rangers have been perfect on the road in the playoffs and haven’t lost an away game yet.

⚾️ Dusty Baker, the Astros manager is reportedly ready to step down and retire. He’s 74 years old.

NLCS Game 6 (Series Tied 3-3)

Arizona Diamondbacks 5 | Philadelphia Phillies 1

⚾️ The Diamondbacks kicked off their lead in the top of the 3rd inning after Tommy Pham and Lourdes Gurriel Jr. hit solo shots. Alek Thomas then scored on an Evan Longoria hit.

⚾️ The Phillies left a few runners stranded on bases but there weren’t any true moments when you felt like a rally was coming. Philly’s 3 lead-off batters went 0 for 9 and will need to get the bats going to have any shot at a W tonight.

🏃 Rookie WR Jordan Addison was the man for the Vikings last night with Justin Jefferson on the bench with a hamstring injury. Addison caught 7 passes for 123 yards and 2 touchdowns with one of those grabs coming with just 7 seconds left in the 1st half when he ripped the ball away from Charvarius Ward. Ward had one interception on the night when ripped the ball away from Addison earlier.

🏃49ers RB Christian McCaffrey had another stellar night with 15 carries for 45 yards, 3 receptions for 51 yards, and a touchdown in each category. McCaffrey has set the record for the 2nd most consecutive games with a TD. He needs to score in the next two games to take the solo record.

✈️ Kirk Cousins led the air raid in primetime last night. He was 35/45 for 378 yards, 2 TDs, and 1 INT.

📉 We’ve never seen Brock Purdy lose before so we didn’t know how he would respond after losing to the Browns in week 6. Purdy (21/30, 272 yards, 1 TD, 2 INTs) played okay but he threw two late interceptions that sealed the deal for the Vikings.

NBA Returns Tonight

The NBA season kicks off tonight with 2 Western Conference matchups.

The first game is a rematch of the Western Conference Championship from last year and the next game are the teams who lost in the Western Conference semis.

College Football Rankings

It’s Tuesday, so that means we cover college football rankings.

🏈 We had no movement in our top 5 teams, even with Ohio State beating a #7 Penn State

🏈 Texas and Oregon moved up a spot after Penn State dropped to #11

🏈 Bama moved up two spots thanks to their win over Tennessee

🏈 North Carolina had the biggest drop after suffering an upset loss to Virginia

✈️ Air Force is ranked #19 after beating Navy this past weekend

🏈 James Madison has moved into the top 25 as they are 7-0.

Giannis Antetokounmpo, The 2-time NBA MVP extended his contract with Milwaukee through the 2027-28 season. He has agreed to a 3-year, $186 million supermax deal.

NFL

We normally talk injuries and such on a Wednesday but wanted to note that Saints’ receiver Chris Olave was arrested last night for suspicion of reckless driving. It is reported that he was going 70mph in a 35 mph zone in an area of New Orleans. It doesn’t appear that he’ll be suspended for this.
