Jackie Robinson Day
+ All The Playoffs
Today’s Estimated Reading Time: 3 minutes and 16 seconds
Good Morning. This is the Daily Breakroom and today celebrating Jackie Robinson Day.
On April 15, 1947 Jackie Robinson broke baseball’s color barrier when made his MLB debut. To celebrate his life and accomplishments, Major League Baseball retired the No. 42 in 1997 for the entire league and in 2009 Jackie Robinson Day was started as the league allowed all players to wear No. 42. We’ve got all 30 teams playing today so they’ll be lots of 42’s running around. Enjoy the games today!
Let’s jump into the rest of the action.
NHL Playoffs Are Set
The NHL regular season finished up with its final 2 games on Friday night and all seeding is now set. 16 teams make the playoffs, 8 from each conference. To win the Stanley Cup, one team will need to win 16 games over the next 8 weeks. If you team goes to game 7 in all the series, the cup winner could play 28 games over 56 days. It can be an absolute grueling schedule to get through, but well worth it.
Playoffs will start Monday with round 1 matchups hitting the ice. Thanks to CBS for the bracket, check it out to see where everyone is matched up.

NBA Playoffs
The NBA had the final two play-in games last night and we couldn’t have been more wrong about the spreads.
Miami Heat vs Chicago Bulls
The Heat started off fast in this one, grabbing a double digit lead towards the end of the 1st quarter, but the Bulls didn’t lead Miami run away with the lead. Chicago pretty much evened it out for the rest of the game until midway in the 4th when they grabbed a 6 point lead. That didn’t last long as the Heat curated a comeback and took the lead back with 2:17 left and didn’t check the rearview. The Heat won 102-91 and will face the Milwaukee Bucks in the first round of playoffs. Jimmy Butler and Max Strus came up big for the Heat, both scoring 31.
Minnesota Timberwolves vs Oklahoma City Thunder
Minnesota big men showed up tonight. After a 24-23 score in the 1st with the T-Wolves up by 1 point, things got carried away. The Timberwolves outmanned the Thunder down low and the lead kept separating. Karl Anthony Towns and Rudy Gobert combined for 49 points to help lead Minnesota to a 120-95 win over OKC. The Timberwolves will face the Denver Nuggets in the first round of playoffs.

RBC Heritage Weekend Play
Play was suspended in the first round of The Heritage due to weather and a few players had to finish out their first round on Friday morning before the 2nd round began. Aaron Rai actually overtook Viktor Hovland as the first round leader, carding a 63 as he finished early Friday morning.
Hovland and Rai didn’t shoot as low in their 2nd rounds, but they are both still tied for 5th, along with Patrick Cantlay and a few others. Cantlay shot a 65 today with a little help from a hole in one.

We’ve got Jimmy Walker at the top of the leaderboard as he’s 12 under heading into the weekend after shooting a pair of 65s. We’ll have some competitive play over the next two days as the leaderboard is packed with big names.
Catch the action on the Golf Channel from 1-3pm and on CBS from 3-6pm. You can also steam on ESPN+.
That’s all for today. Whatever you decide to watch, we hope you enjoy!
