Jokic Gets Another Triple Double In Game 1 Win

Happy Friday from the Daily Breakroom. We’re only covering last night’s game 1 from the NBA Finals so tip it off.

The Denver Nuggets grabbed the 1-0 series lead with a 104-93 home win against the Miami Heat last night. Denver hadn’t lost at home in the playoffs this postseason and Miami had won each of the series openers. Over 70% of the teams that win game 1 in the Finals go on to win the whole thing. If the Heat want to recover, they’ll need to clean some things up.

The Nuggets wanted to ensure they didn’t let the series opener slip and Denver’s scorers were ready. Nikola Jokic scored 27 points, grabbed 10 rebounds, and had 24 assists in another playoff triple-double. Jamal Murray also scored 26 and the Nuggets had decent contributions from the rest of the team as well.

The Heat have some room for improvement in game 2. They shot 40% from the field which isn’t abysmal but it’s not ideal. The difference maker could be the free throw attempts. Denver had 20 attempts last night and hit 16 of them. The Heat only had 2 free throw attempts the entire game. Miami will need to bring their physical and attack-style play to game 2 if they want to slow down the Nuggets and get some free buckets.

Check out some highlights.

It’s a quick one today, enjoy them happy hours! You deserve it.

Cheers,
