LeBroom James
aka the Nuggets Complete the Sweep
Today’s Estimated Reading Time: 2 minutes and 33 seconds
Good Morning. We’ve got a quick Tuesday as one team completes a playoff sweep and a few others are on their way, plus we’ve got a possible LeBron retirement. Let’s get that coffee machine turned on and get this thing going.
NBA Sweepstakes
Western Conference Finals
The Denver Nuggets swept the Los Angeles Lakers’ dreams right in the broom pan and dumped them in the trash. The Nuggets earned their first NBA Finals appearance as a franchise after defeating the Lakers in game 4 of the Western Conference Finals. Nikola Jokic recorded another triple-double with 30 points, 14 rebounds, and 13 assists. Jamal Murray also scored 25 in the 113-111 win.
LeBron practically played the entire game and scored 40 points, grabbed 10 boards and had 9 assists. It was looking like LA could force a game 5 after leading by 15 at halftime. The Nuggets came out strong in the 2nd half and outscored LA 55-38. LeBron claimed that the Nuggets were the best team he’s faced in the last four years in the postseason.
Here are highlights if you need ‘em.
Eastern Conference Finals
The Boston Celtics will be in Miami for an Eastern Conference Finals Game 4. The Celtics will be trying to avoid a series sweep and bring game 5 back to Boston. You can watch the Celts take on the Heat at 8:30 pm ET on TNT.
Could LeBron Retire?
LeBron finished his media time after the sweep by saying he’s got a lot to think about when it comes to him moving forward with the game of basketball. He just finished his 20th season and still averaged 24.5 pts, 9.9 rebounds, and 6.5 assists per game. LeBron is going to have to go through Denver at minimum for the next few years and he isn’t getting any younger. He’s got two years left on his contract and he stands to make $97 million during that time period. He’s mentioned before he wants to try to play with his son, but it’s not even a guarantee that Bronny makes the NBA. It seems like LeBron’s got something left in the tank but maybe it’s only fitting that he retires, and the megastar door opens for Wembanyama.
Stanley Cup Playoffs
Eastern Conference Finals
We actually had a playoff game end in regulation and for some reason that feels crazy to say. The Florida Panthers defeated the Carolina Hurricanes 1-0 at home to go up 3-0 in the series. Sam Reinhart scored the lone goal of the game on a 2nd period power play. The Panthers’ goaltender, Sergei Bobrovsky also played great in net stopping 32 shots on goal for the shutout.
Western Conference Finals
The Western Conference Finals travel to Dallas for Game 3 and the Dallas Stars will look to grab a home win and avoid going down 3-0 to the Vegas Golden Knights. Game time is 8:00 pm ET. Tune in to ESPN to catch the action.
That’s all for today. We’ll be back tomorrow with more scores, a Tiger Woods update, and some smart moves from the NFL.
Enjoy the day!
