Let's Break It Down For You
Happy College Football Saturday, folks!
What a beautiful day it is. Sure, we had a little teaser last weekend that ended in a little upset with Georgia Tech beating Florida State (and yes, we did hit the under). But this Saturday is different. We had the appetizer/hors d’oeuvres last weekend. We had the amuse-bouche (I’m a little hungry this morning) the last few nights, with Colorado narrowly escaping, Minnesota already losing in great PJ Fleck Fashion, and Michigan State squeezing out a home win against FAU.
BUT TODAY
WE OPEN WITH A GREAT GAME AND HOPEFULLY FINISH WITH A GREAT ONE TOO.
So, let’s dive into the main course of the day and also do a quick run-through of other things happening in the sports world.
These cannabis gummies keep selling out in 2024
If you've ever struggled to enjoy cannabis due to the harshness of smoking or vaping, you're not alone. That’s why these new cannabis gummies caught our eye.
Mood is an online dispensary that has invented a “joint within a gummy” that’s extremely potent yet federally-legal. Their gummies are formulated to tap into the human body’s endocannabinoid system.
Although this system was discovered in the 1990’s, farmers and scientists at Mood were among the first to figure out how to tap into it with cannabis gummies. Just 1 of their rapid onset THC gummies can get you feeling right within 5 minutes!
COLLEGE FOOTBALL IS BACK FOR REAL
Okay, so we kind of gave you this excitement last weekend.. but now it’s real.
We’ve got games, games, and more games. I hope you got your last vacation and all of the apple picking out of the way because it’s 12+ hours of football time.
👀Today, we’ve got a phenomenal matchup: #1 Georgia hosts #14 Clemson at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta. The game will start at noon Eastern and will be on ABC.
Obviously, Georgia was a great team last year, just missing the four-team playoff, and they are always stacked with talent. Clemson/ Dabo Swinney won’t go to the transfer portal because he believes in “his guys.” Clemson stunk it up last year in a pre-Dabo kind of way. Georgia is an 11.5-point favorite, and the O/U is 48.5. I’ll be taking UGA and the over. Georgia wins this one 38-17.
👀3:30 pm EST you can find one of the awesome in state matchups that you’ll see all year. Florida vs #19 Miami, live from The Swamp in Gainesville. Miami is favored by 2.5 points, and the O/U is 54.5 points. Miami is looking to redeem themselves after finishing towards the bottom of the ACC last year after what looked like they could be a really good team. They brought in a strong recruiting class, and if there’s any year to have a massive improvement, it’s this one. The U will be led by former Washington State QB Cam Ward and he’s an impressive player.
Florida was playing good football in 2023 and then went on a five game-losing streak at the end of the season. The SEC will do that to you! Graham Mertz will lead the Gators again this year after throwing for 20 TDs and only 3 INTs last season.
I think I’ll avoid the points on this one, but I will take the over. One unit on this game is the cost of admission in my eyes.
👀 You want the final course? #7 Notre Dame vs #20 Texas A&M. This one has a cool story.
Texas A&M’s new head coach, Mike Elko, will be coaching his first game in College Station in front of the “12th man”. He was just hired after leading Duke to a decently successful season. With Mike Elko leaving Duke, his QB, Riley Leonard, thought it was time to make a move. Leonard ended up in South Bend, Indiana, where he will lead the Fighting Irish. So the QB and Head Coach, who were together for two years, will now be facing off against each other for 3 hours under the lights.
This showdown starts at 7:30 pm ET, and of course, it’s on ABC. A&M is the favorite at home, giving Notre Dame 3 points. The O/U is 47.5. I’ll take A&M and the over.
👉️ FYI, we also have a dope matchup tomorrow night. #23 USC will play #13 LSU at 7:30 p.m. on ABC at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas. LSU is favored by 4 points, and the O/U is 64.5. We don’t have much on this game yet, but just remember when Caleb Williams sat out in the bowl game last year, and Miller Moss came in and tossed 6 touchdowns in his first college start.
There are plenty more games where that came from. Check out the full schedule for today here.
What have we missed the last few days?
🏈Brandon Aiyuk and the 49ers agreed to a 4-year, $120 million extension
🏈Russell Wilson was named QB1 in Pittsburgh over Justin Fields
🏈Green Bay Packers RB AJ Dillon is out with a season-ending neck injury.
🏈 The Cowboys signed CeeDee Lamb to a 4-year $136 million contract extension earlier this week.
🎾Novak Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz have bounced from the US Open. This will be the first time Djokovic was bounced in the 3rd round since 2005 and 2006.
⚾️The Dodgers are plagued with pitching injuries this season, and Clayton Kershaw will be placed on the IL with a bone spur in his foot. He’s only made six starts this season, as he was coming off of shoulder surgery last year.
⛳️ The PGA Tour FedEx Cup Championship is taking place this weekend. We’ve got round 3 today and the final round tomorrow. Scottie Scheffler is currently leading at -21, and Collin Morikawa is trying to close the gap as he currently sits at -17. You can catch the action on NBC and The Golf Channel.
It's in and out in under 5 minutes—that’s our promise. Have a great weekend, and enjoy the holiday on Monday!
Cheers,
-The DB
