More Loco Than A Pitbull Song
Today’s Estimated Reading Time: 2 minutes and 43 seconds
Good morning! The weekend is almost here but we don’t need to wait to get crazy in Miami
Here’s what we got today:
Bienvenido A Miami
NBA Finals
Stanley Cup Finals
Canadian Open
Chris Paul Waived? Not So Fast!
Bienvenido A Miami
Lionel Messi has decided that his future will be in Miami. The 35-year-old announced on Wednesday that he would be joining Inter Miami, effectively turning down a massive offer from the Saudi Pro League.
Messi is looking to focus on his family life a bit more and if he couldn’t make a return to FC Barcelona, he was looking to move out of Europe. While the move to the MLS may come as a surprise, it will elevate the play and likely the viewership.
Be on the lookout, you might see Messi in Miami as soon as July!
NBA Finals
The Denver Nuggets regained control of the NBA Finals with another convincing win to go up 2-1 in the series.
Denver’s duo Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray dominated as each had a triple-double. This was the first time in playoff history that teammates had a triple-double. Jokic scored 32, had 21 rebounds, and recorded 10 assists. Murray had 34 points with 10 rebounds and 10 assists.
Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo had 28 and 22 for the Heat, respectively. This was about the only contribution from the Heat as the rest of the roster struggled to score.
Not only did Denver stars outplay Miami’s, but Denver also had more contributions from other starters and bench players like Aaron Gordon and Christian Braun, who both helped Denver grow the lead in the 3rd quarter which created enough separation for the Nuggets to play their style ball in the 4th.
We’ll see if Miami can recover in game 4.
Stanley Cup Finals, Game 3
The Stanley Cup Finals head to Florida for game 3 as the Florida Panthers take on the Vegas Golden Knights at 8:00 pm ET on TNT. Vegas has a 2-0 lead in the series.
Canadian Open
Amidst all the PGA Tour and LIV drama, golf still needs to be played. The PGA Tour is in Canada this week with the Canadian Open taking place at Oakdale Golf & Country Club in Toronto. It seems like the wildfires in Ontario won’t have an impact on play and the Tour is expecting over 120k fans over the four days of the golf tournament.
Here’s the TV schedule for the week.
Thursday, June 8: 3-6 pm ET (Golf Channel)
Friday, June 9: 3-6 pm ET (Golf Channel)
Saturday, June 10: 2:30 - 5:30 pm ET (Golf Channel); 5:30 - 7:30 pm ET (CBS)
Sunday, June 11: 1:30 - 2:30 pm ET (Golf Channel); 2:30 - 6:30 pm ET (CBS)
Chris Paul’s Future
It was first reported that Chris Paul was released from the Phoenix Suns but someone maybe jumped the gun. It now seems like Paul is trying to find a way to stay with the Suns and he wants to work it out soon. Paul is set to make around $30 million next season if the team keeps him. It looks like the Suns want to explore a trade or potentially find a way to restructure Paul’s contract to reduce the impact on the cap.
That’s all for today. We’ll see you tomorrow.
