A Mark Of Perfection

Today's Estimated Reading Time: 3 Minutes and 29 Seconds

Good Morning and Happy Thursday. We’re leading up to the 4th of July weekend and everything feels right. The Yankees dominate and bring a party favor along, the USMNT dominates, and we’ve got great golf events that we’re all looking forward to watching.

Let’s go!

Yankees Dominate With German’s Perfect Game

Domingo German threw a perfect game against the Oakland Athletics last night, leading the Yankees to an 11-0 win.

German’s perfect game was the 24th perfect game in history. German threw 99 pitches resulting in 27 total outs that included 9 strikeouts, 0 runs, 0 hits, and 0 walks.

Aside from German’s perfect pitching, the Yankees offense was led by Giancarlo Stanton who homered and drove in three runs in the win.

USA Dominates

The USMNT dominated St. Kitts and Nevis last night with a 6-0 win. While this was St. Kitts and Nevis’ first appearance in the CONCACAF Golf Cup, the small Caribbean island team was unable to find its footing against the US. The US had a 4-0 lead at the end of the first half but would need to drive some extra goals in to create some separation from Jamaica in case of an overall goals-scored tiebreaker.

The US would score two more goals in the 2nd half, including a goal from Jesus Ferreira which would give him a hat trick for the match.

The USMNT will face Trinidad and Tobago on Sunday.

Rocket Mortgage Classic

The PGA Tour will tee it up tomorrow with the Rocket Mortgage Classic in Detroit, Michigan. The Event is held at the Detroit Golf Club

The winner will receive $1.58 million of the total $8.8 million purse. So who is predicted to win the tournament ahead of the 4th of July?

Can Tony Finau win back-to-back Rocket Mortgage Classics? Can Sungjae Im, Hideki, Ricke, or JT end their winless streaks? That’s for you to decide!

Here are some odds for the 4-day tournament.

Rickie Fowler +1200

Collin Morikawa + 1400

Tony Finau +1400

Hideki Matsuyama +1600

Max Homa +1800

Sungjae Im + 1800

Justin Thomas + 1800

NHL Draft Picks (Top 3 picks)

  1. The Chicago Blackhawks made the expected pick in last night’s draft, selecting 17-year-old Connor Bedard with the first overall pick. Bedard is the most hyped prospect since Connor McDavid was drafted by Edmonton 8 years ago.

  2. With the 2nd pick, the Anaheim Ducks surprised everyone, selecting Leo Carlsson over Adam Fantilli. The Ducks said they were taking a center but were keeping it a secret. Everyone thought they would take Fantilli from the University of Michigan but they took Carlsson instead from the Swedish Hockey League. Carlsson is an 18-year-old center with a good frame and some great abilities coming out of Europe.

  3. The Columbus Blue Jackets had the 3rd overall pick and grabbed Adam Fantilli who is also only 18 years old and has a great frame on him. He’s ranked 2nd overall of all North American prospects.

World Lacrosse Championship

We’ve reached the semifinals in the World Lacrosse Championship. Canada will face Haudenosaunee* in the first semi-game tonight at 8 pm ET on ESPN2. USA will face Australia in the second matchup at 11 pm ET on ESPN2.

The winners of each game will face off in the championship game on Saturday.

*For those of you that don’t know, the Haudenosaunee is an indigenous sports organization that competes on the world stage. They were formally known as the Iroquois Nationals and changed their name back to their roots in June 2022 as their tribes are revitalizing their native cultures.

What To Watch Today
