Marquette Doesn't Show Up For Game

+ Hockey on the football field!

Good Morning!

Did you all catch that #1 vs #4 NCAA basketball game last night? I think the Marquette boys missed the bus from their hotel and the team had to find some randoms from town over to play UConn. What are other explanation is there for #4 Marquette losing by 28 to #1 UConn?

We’ll dig through some stats, talk some NBA and NHL, and then round it out with some golf coverage.

College Basketball

#4 Marquette 53 | #1 UConn 81

👀 This 28 point margin of victory is the biggest margin in top 5 matchup since AP rankings became a thing in college basketball land.

👉️ UConn continues to play great team basketball with Donovan Clingan leading the way with 17 points and 10 rebounds. The Huskies got double digits from 3 others. Tristen Newton scored 15, Cam Spencer scored 14, and Hassan Diarra came off the bench and got 14.

💪 The Huskies shut down the reigning Big East Player of the Year, Tyler Kolek. Kolek only scored 7 points yesterday, and he is averaging more than 15 points per game this season.

#6 Kansas 67 | #25 Oklahoma 57

👉️ Hunter Dickinson put up 20 points for the Jayhawks in a Big12 battle against the Sooners. Kansas was able to pull out the win but left some points on the court as they were only 9 for 18 from the free throw line.

#22 Kentucky 70 | #13 Auburn 59

👀 Auburn hosted ESPN’s College Gameday and it seems the campus used up all their juices during pre game events. A talented but underperforming Kentucky came in an upset the Tigers.

👉️ It was the Antonio Reeves show as the guard put up 22 points for Kentucky.

📉 Auburn had a rough day shooting. The Tigers shot 30% from field goal and 18% from 3-point land. It’s going to be tough to any game with those numbers.

NBA All-Star Weekened

We’ve had a weekend of events leading up to the All-Star weekend. Here’s a recap of who won all of Saturday’s events.

👀 Tyrese Haliburton and a group of Pacers’ players played hometown hero as they won the NBA skills competition.

💪 Mac McClung won the slam dunk competition again. He had a reverse jam over Shaq. That’s one high flying dude throwing down the dunk. If you’re thinking that’s not that impressive of a dunk, don’t worry, other NBA players are thinking the same thing. Joel Embiid and Aaron Gordon were trolling on twitter saying they could’ve won this years contest.

💰️Damian Lillard repeated as the 3-point competition champion with a final round score of 26 poitns.. Don’t let it fool you though, Steph Curry would’ve won the competition if he participated. Curry hit for 29 points in 1 vs 1 competition with Sabrina Ionescu. Come to think about it, Ionescu would’ve been battling it with Dame as she put up 26 points the in challenge as well.

📺️ Tune into the All-Star game tonight at 8 pm ET on TNT

NHL Stadium Series

The NHL Stadium Series is back and they took the ice to East Rutherford, NJ where the NJ Devils and the Philadelphia Flyers faced off yesterday.

👉️ The Devils won 6-3 after taking a quick 2-0 lead in the first period. Both Nico Hischier and Nathan Bastian scored 3 goals for the Devils and Nico Daws made 45 saves on 48 shots.

📺️ We’ve got day 2 on the ice with a matchup between the New York Rangers and the New York Islanders. Gametime is 3pm ET on ABC
