Masters Week Begins

Today’s Estimated Reading Time: 3 minutes and 4 seconds

Good Morning and Happy Wednesday. This is the Daily Breakroom and we’ll be here the rest of the week to keep you updated on the Masters.

Here’s what we got today:

  • Wednesday at the Masters

  • NHL Playoff Update

  • NBA Playoff Update

Let’s do this.

⛳️Wednesday at Augusta ⛳️

Even if you’re not into golf, you know what the green jacket is. Before players tee off on Thursday in an effort to put on the elusive green jacket, players and fans enjoy some fun in the days before. Unlike most tournaments, fans arrive early in the week to catch their favorite players and the biggest names on tour playing in the practice rounds. As the pros try to get comfortable with the difficult approach shots and greens at Augusta on Monday and Tuesday, we all await for a little treat on Wednesday.

Enter the par 3 contest. Golfers head out and have some fun for the fans to see. While playing on a 9 hole par 3 course, you’ll see the pros try a few trick shots and they even let family members and caddies take some swings. It’s a fun way to ease into the seriousness of the first Major Championship of the year. There’s no prize if you win the par 3 and it might actually be no good at all if you do win. No par 3 contest winner has ever one the green jacket on Sunday.

If you want to catch some of the fun it will be live streamed on ESPN+ from Noon-3pm or you can tune into ESPN from 3-5pm. There will also be a live stream at 2pm on Masters.com

Let’s hope we don’t have another case of Tony Finau dislocating his ankle after celebrating a hole in one during the par 3 contest. You can look it up if you’re into that sort of stuff.

🏒 NHL Playoffs 🏒

We are two weeks away from the Stanley Cup Playoffs beginning and teams are still locking in their spots.

In the Western Conference three new teams have clinched playoff berths in the last two days. The Colorado Avalanche, Dallas Stars and Minnesota Wild have all clinched in the central division.

In the Eastern Conference, both the Metropolitan and Atlantic top 3 have clinched their playoff spots.

We’re waiting for the final games to play out where the wild cards will be decided. In the east, the NY Islanders and Florida Panthers lead the wild card race. The Seattle Kraken and Winnipeg Jets lead in the west.

🏀 NBA Playoffs 🏀

The Phoenix Suns grabbed the 4th spot in the playoffs in the Western Conference with a win against San Antonio last night. The last two playoff seeds in the west are still up for grabs as teams currently seeded 5-9 are separated by only 2 games. Depending on scheduling, teams have 2 or 3 games left and anything can happen by Sunday, when the regular season comes to an end.

In the east, the Toronto Raptors and Chicago Bulls have secured spots in the play-in tournament. The Brooklyn Nets currently sit in the playoffs as the 6th seed but the Miami Heat are only 1 game behind with 3 games to go. If the Nets can win 2 of the next 3 they’ll have a spot in the playoffs and the Heat will be sent to the play-in tournament.

That’s all for today. We’ll back tomorrow to kick off the Masters.

Have a great Wednesday,
