The Mavs were up by how much?
Happy Friday!
These playoffs just don’t let up, and neither do the Dallas Mavericks. Hell, the Edmonton Oilers and Florida Panthers even had some big nights. And while some folks are holding it together on the big stage, others are not. We’ll get to that later.
Let’s run through what happened last night and Wednesday night and then we’ll talk more about what to expect over the weekend.
These cannabis gummies keep selling out in 2023
If you've ever struggled to enjoy cannabis due to the harshness of smoking or vaping, you're not alone. That’s why these new cannabis gummies caught our eye.
Mood is an online dispensary that has invented a “joint within a gummy” that’s extremely potent yet federally-legal. Their gummies are formulated to tap into the human body’s endocannabinoid system.
Although this system was discovered in the 1990’s, farmers and scientists at Mood were among the first to figure out how to tap into it with cannabis gummies. Just 1 of their rapid onset THC gummies can get you feeling right within 5 minutes!
Headlines
🏀 The Dallas Mavericks won game 5 in their series against the Minnesota Timberwolves and will take the series 4-1. Dallas will face the Boston Celtics in the NBA Finals
⛳️ Scottie Scheffler has had his charges dropped by the Louisville Police Department. That was two weeks too late.
🏒 The Florida Panthers defeated the New York Rangers 3-2 last night in game 5 of the Eastern Conference Finals, and game six is heading back to Florida. The Rangers are in trouble.
🏀 The LA Clippers are keeping Ty Lue around as head coach. He reportedly signed a 5-year deal worth $70 million. That’s almost quadruple what he made playing in the NBA for 11 seasons.
🏈The Chicago Bears have been selected as the team to be followed for HBO’s Hard Knocks. It’s the first time Hard Knocks will be following a rookie QB since they followed Baker Mayfield and the Cleveland Browns in 2018. Reminder, the Bears selected Caleb Williams with the first overall pick.
🏈 The Miami Dolphins are starting to spend $$. They signed WR Jaylen Waddle to a 3-year deal worth up to $84 million. Better save some for Tua!
Let’s dig a little deeper into the playoffs
NBA
Western Conference Game 5
Dallas 124 | Minnesota 103
Luka Doncic, Kyrie Irving, and the Dallas Mavericks did it again, just absolutely pummeling the Timberwolves and are now set to play the Boston Celtics in the NBA Finals. Kyrie dropped 36 last night and Luka also dropped 36. Yup, the two stars combined for 72 last night but that’s not even the most impressive part.
The Mavs had insane leads all night. A 29-point lead at the end, which turned into a 36-point lead in the third quarter. How can you be in the Western Conference Finals and be down 36?! That’s crazy!
Karl Anthony Towns and Anthony Edwards both scored 28 for Minnesota, but that was basically all their scoring. No other team member had double digits. Kudos to the Timberwolves for defeating two talented teams before meeting the Mavericks in this series. The T-Wolves will likely be feared for many years to come.
NHL
Western Conference Finals
Edmonton 5 | Dallas 2
The Edmonton Oilers were down 2-0 to the Dallas Stars on Wednesday night, and they hadn’t even had a shot on goal yet. It appeared that Edmonton would fall behind in the series 3-1, but they had different plans. The Oilers were able to rally back and scored five unanswered goals. The series is now tied up 2-2, and game 5 will be in Dallas tonight.
p.s. all 5 goals were scored by different players from Edmonton
Eastern Conference Finals
Florida 3 | NY Rangers 2
The New York Rangers took the 1-0 lead in game 5 at MSG on a shorthanded goal in the 2nd period. It was Chris Kreider’s first point in the series. Florida would tie it up a few minutes later, and Florida owned the 3rd period like they have all season. The Panthers would score 2 goals in the 3rd period to seal the deal, and New York would score their 2nd goal too late in the game. Sam Bennett had a goal and an assist for the Panthers.
