2023 NFL Draft

The 2023 NFL Draft kicks off today, live from Kansas City. The draft will have 259 names called this year over 7 rounds. Thursday marks the start of the first round only. Coverage will be on ABC, ESPN, and the ESPN app and the first round will start at 8pm ET.

The first round will have 31 teams drafting.

You might be a newbie to this and think… cool, that’s a lot of teams.

But if you’ve been around football enough, you know that we’re missing a team there.

That’s right. The Miami Dolphins were stripped of their first round pick for violating the anti-tampering policy which basically means they were talking to players and coaches from other teams when they weren’t suppose to be.

What’s the order for the first round?
  • Pick 1: Carolina Panthers

  • Pick 2: Houston Texans

  • Pick 3: Arizona Cardinals

  • Pick 4: Indianapolis Colts

  • Pick 5: Seattle Seahawks

  • Pick 6: Detroit Lions

  • Pick 7: Las Vegas Raiders

  • Pick 8: Atlanta Falcons

  • Pick 9: Chicago Bears

  • Pick 10: Philadelphia Eagles

  • Pick 11: Tennessee Titans

  • Pick 12: Houston Texans

  • Pick 13: Green Bay Packers

  • Pick 14: New England Patriots

  • Pick 15: New York Jets

  • Pick 16: Washington Commanders

  • Pick 17: Pittsburgh Steelers

  • Pick 18: Detroit Lions

  • Pick 19: Tampa Bay Buccaneers

  • Pick 20: Seattle Seahawks

  • Pick 21: Los Angeles Chargers

  • Pick 22: Baltimore Ravens

  • Pick 23: Minnesota Vikings

  • Pick 24: Jacksonville Jaguars

  • Pick 25: New York Giants

  • Pick 26: Dallas Cowboys

  • Pick 27: Buffalo Bills

  • Pick 28: Cincinnati Bengals

  • Pick 29: New Orleans Saints

  • Pick 30: Philadelphia Eagles

  • Pick 31: Kansas City Chiefs

Who’s going to get drafted first?

It’s hard to tell at this point, but the consensus is that the Carolina Panthers are going to take Bryce Young, the QB from Alabama.

What about the rest of the first round picks?

Honestly, it’s anyone guess. This draft isn’t a big QB draft class or one that has tons of talent at wide receiver. There are some standouts on the defensive side of the ball, coming from all over the field. On the offense, there’s maybe 2 receivers and a RB who could go first but you can expect a couple of tight ends to get taken with a team’s first round pick.

You want to dig in a little more but don’t know where to start?

We got you. We like Todd McShay’s thinking when it comes to the draft (and his cool demeanor) . Check out his top 350 player rankings right here to learn about the individuals you’ll be watching next season.

If you want to see where players might land, check out the Daniel Jeremiah’s (NFL Network Analyst) mock draft right here.

We’ll be back tomorrow to update you on the first round of the draft and of course, more playoff scores.

Have a great day,
