How Much Do The Chiefs Love Kansas City?
It’s February 14, aka Valentine’s Day, aka it’s The Day of The Chiefs Super Bowl Parade. Fans will be lining Grand Blvd to show their love for the Chiefs, and the Chiefs will be giving it right back!
We’re going to dig through some college basketball scores, look at some big stats in the NBA from last night, and maybe even sneak in a little college football playoff talk 🤫.
Here we go.
NCAA Men’s Super Tuesday
Most of the teams in the Top 25 that played remained unscathed last night, but there are always exceptions like UNC getting upset by Syracuse in upstate New York. Let’s run through some of these games.
#7 North Carolina 79 | Syracuse 86
🏀 I think an easy way to sum up this upset is 1. revenge and 2. Syracuse was on point with shooting.
👉️ UNC beat the bag off of ‘Cuse in January when the Heels beat the Orange by 33 points in Chapel Hill. Obviously ‘Cuse had to defend their name in the Dome on a Super Tuesday. The two teams went into halftime tied up 42-42. While UNC played their normal basketball, Syracuse had a wild night. The Orange hit shot-clock buzzer beaters and deep 3’s and shot 20% better from the field than they’ve been averaging all season. Mix up a normal night from UNC and a spectacular night from Syracuse, and you get yourself an upset.
#4 Marquette 78 | Butler 72
🏀 Butler made a push late in the 2nd half to tie this thing up at home, but Marquette wanted that road win. The reigning Big East player of the year, Tyler Kolek, had 27 points in the win for Marquette
#25 Oklahoma 62 | #12 Baylor 79
🏀 Baylor punished Oklahoma in the first half, taking a 13-point lead heading into the locker room. OU tried for a late push in the 2nd half, but Baylor would close it out. Jayden Nunn was the big Bear on campus for Baylor as he scored 27 points and was 6 for 9 from 3.
Georgetown 72 | #17 Creighton 94
🏀 Georgetown has been getting the beat down in the Big East this year. Creighton whooped them by 22 points, and G-Town is a terrible 1-12 in the conference. Creighton got 26 from Trey Alexander, whose name couldn’t be more fitting as he was 6 for 8 from three-point land.
👀 Our final two upsets were Pittsburgh beating #21 Virginia 74-63 on the road and Illinois State defeated #23 Indiana State 80-67, also on the road!
NBA Going Up On A Tuesday!
We didn’t have any triple-doubles that included blocks tonight, but we still go two of them in a different way. We also have a few high scorers from last night’s game. Let’s take a closer look.
👎️ Domantas Sabonis had a triple-double for the 2nd game in a row as he scored 35 points, had 18 rebounds, and 12 assists. It sucks to suck, as a triple-double wasn’t enough to beat the Phoenix Suns. You know what could possibly have been enough? Getting 40 from De’Aaron Fox, along with a triple dub from Sabonis. Just kidding, that actually happened, and it still wasn’t enough, and Sacramento took a road L with a score of 130-125
👉️ KD scored 28 points in the Phoenix win against the Kings, but there were better performances than that. Let’s keep going.
👀Jayson Tatum dropped 41 points on the Brooklyn Nets to help the Celtics get a 118-110 road win in BK. Tatum also had 14 rebounds
👉️ Anthony Edwards had a big night as he dropped 41 for the Minnesota Timberwolves as they defeated the Trailblazers in Portland 121-109.
🏀 The OKC Thunder brought a two-man performance to center stage in Orlando. No magic was necessary to get this W as Jalen Williams scored 33, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander put up 32, and OKC won 127-113.
College Football Playoff Proposal
We’re moving to a 12-team CFP in the upcoming college football season. We really mean seven months away when we say upcoming, sad, but you get the point.
Anyways, the big question has been how we get the 12 teams.
There will be a vote on February 20th for a proposal that will give us a 5 + 7 model.
Here’s what it looks like.
Take all the conference champions. Whoever the five highest-ranked teams are out of that group will get in. After that, the next 7 highest ranked teams will get an at-large bid.
So, how would that have looked this year?
Well, Michigan, Washington, Texas, Alabama, and Florida State would’ve all been in, as they were the top-ranked conference champions. After that, it would be teams 6-12. That includes Georgia, Ohio State, Oregon, Missouri, Penn State, Ole Miss, and Oklahoma.
This is what you all really wanted? Do you really want to see five 2-loss teams in the playoffs? Okay!
Let’s run through one more year so we can see if we like this or not.
Here’s how 2022 would’ve played out. It gets a little crazy. First, let’s look at the rankings after conference championships were played.

Georgia, Michigan, Clemson, Utah, and Kansas State would be the top 5 highest conference champions. Just so we're clear, Clemon had 2 losses, Utah had 3 losses, and K-State had 3 losses. That’s who’s getting an automatic bid.
So, who would get the at-large bids? The at-large bids would’ve gone TCU, Ohio State, Alabama, Tennessee, USC, Penn State, and Washington. Five of those seven teams had 2 losses. FUN!
That’s enough chaos for today. Enjoy your Valentine’s Day, and make sure you pick up flowers on the way home from work!
