NBA Scuffles

The National Basketball Association, more like, the National Brawling Association (am I right?) had another fight break out on Friday night. This time it was between Austin Rivers and Mo Bamba. Rivers, the Minnesota Timberwolves Guard was over by the Orland Magic bench, when the Bamba, the Magic Center and Rivers started exchanges punches. Five players in total were ejected. You can see it unravel here.

Kyrie, Kyrie, Kyrie

[Insert Audible Sigh]. Things were looking up in Brooklyn. Ben Simmons was contributing a bit, KD was playing great, and the Nets were in 3rd in the East with a 27-15 record. Then KD injured his knee and the Nets are surviving with 5-7 record, which isn’t terrible with the all star break coming up and the nets only dropping 1 place in the standings. The Nets needed to rely on their other star, which brings us to a saying we all know too well. When the going gets tough, Kyrie gets going.

On Friday, Kyrie requested a trade prior to the deadline of Feb 9. Some potential destinations that analysts are throwing around are Miami, Dallas, or a reunion with LeBron in Los Angeles. We’ll update you as we get more info.

Same name different spelling

The Broncos lucked out in 2012, when Peyton Manning rode into town and became a Bronco. He led them to a Super Bowl win in 2016 before retiring. It’s official. There’s a new Sheriff in town in the Rockies. Sean Payton has been officially announced as the Head Coach of the Denver Broncos. As Payton’s Coaching rights are held by the Saints for two more seasons, the Bronco’s had make a trade, sending a 2023 first round pick and 2024 second round pick to New Orleans in exchange for Peyton and a Saints 2024 third round pick. Details of Payton’s deal have not been released yet.

NHL All Star Game

The 2023 NHL All Star Game is taking place in Sunrise, FL, which is home of the Florida Panthers. Players have spent some relaxing and fun time in the sunshine having activites in Fort Lauderdale on the beach. Tune in to ABC at 3pm EST as they return to the ice for the All Star Game.

Tobacco Road Showdown

It’s been a long time, more specifically, 62 years since there has been a North Carolina Tar Heels and Duke Blue Devils showdown on the court where there hasn’t been a coach named Dean Smith, Roy Williams, or Mike Krzyzewski. Both teams are currently unranked but that doesn’t mean it won’t be a thriller to watch. Tune in to ESPN at 6:30pm EST as the Tar Heels travel 9 miles to take on the Blue Devils.
