The New York Jets' Worst Nightmare Is Confirmed

Good Morning. It’s the middle of the week and we don’t have a ton of action. We’re keeping it a light read today with some updates and injury reports. Let’s jump right in.

Aaron Rodgers Officially Out For Season

The worst news for Jets fans was delivered yesterday after it was confirmed that Aaron Rodgers ruptured his calcaneal tendon (Achilles). Rodgers will turn 40 in 3 months and will need to rehab basically a full year to return to the Jets next season. While Rodgers was looking like he would be the savior for a Jets team that has a lethal defense, it was likely that Rodgers was going to be evading defenders on his feet all year as the Jets O-line still needs work.

Head coach Robert Saleh doesn’t think the season is over although they will be led on the offense by Zach Wilson again. Even with a new OC and some scheme changes, I don’t see Wilson leading this team to a playoff run.

Kevin Porter Jr.

Kevin Porter Jr. will likely never be in an NBA uniform again after the very sad details regarding his alleged attack on his girlfriend are coming out.

Recent reports are stating that Kevin Porter Jr. punched and strangled his girlfriend and WNBA free agent, Kysre Gondrezick. Gondrezick was left with a fractured vertebra and a cut on her eye.

While this was Porter Jr.’s most egregious act, this was his first time displaying character issues.

In 2020, Porter was suspended at USC for two games for conduct.

During the 2020-2021 NBA season, he had an outburst in the Cavs locker room after his locker was moved and got into a confrontation with the Cavs GM.

He was then traded to Houston. He was suspended by Houston in the 2021-2022 after he had an altercation with his HC. He was also fined by the NBA in 2021 for violating the NBA’s health and safety rules.

Should he have not been allowed to play in the league for all of these grievances? Definitely not. Could these have been some warning signs? Possibly.

While many are calling for his immediate release from the Houston Rockets, the Rockets front office can’t take any disciplinary actions as the NBA is currently performing its own investigation. We’ll keep you updated on any major news on this story.

MLB News

New York Mets

The New York Mets are hiring former Milwaukee Brewers President David Stearns as the Mets’ president of baseball operations. Stearns helped deliver the Milwaukee multiple division titles during his tenure. Stearns grew up in New York and is a lifelong Mets fan. He will start in October after the season ends(for the Mets) and will have unlimited resources to get the Mets a World Series Trophy.

Max Scherzer

Texas Rangers pitcher Max Scherzer exited last night’s game against the Blue Jays due to a right triceps spasm in the sixth inning. He is scheduled for an MRI today. Rangers are 2nd in the AL West and if they make the playoffs, which is likely, they’ll need Scherzer for sure.

Matt Olson

We just talked about Matt Olson yesterday after he hit 2 homers on Monday and hit the 50-home run mark for 2023. He needed 1 more home run before the end of the season to tie the Atlanta Braves’ single-season record and it took him just 1 day to do it.

That’s all for today. It’s a great day to have a day.
