No One Wanted This To Be The Outcome
Happy Friday! We’re one weekend closer to football!
We’re closing out the work week with a superfan story, a few other updates, and a random story about some missing sneakers.
Let’s get this clock spinning to 4 pm.
ChiefsAholic Goes Down
This is a story as old as time. You’ve got your local team and a local dude who’s the biggest fan you know. Think Fireman Ed for the New York Jets or Spike Lee and the Knicks. Everyone has that guy from their fanbase who has had tickets for 50 years and goes to every single game.
Well, that was ChiefsAholic aka Xavaiar Babudar who was a superfan for the Kansas City Chiefs.
ChiefsAholic would wear a grey wolf suit to the games, sporting a jersey along with the costume. He would have one problem though. He committed crimes in the same wolf mask that he would wear to the games!
HE ACTUALLY ROBBED A BANK ON THE WAY TO A GAME BEFORE! (that’s commitment to your craft)
ChiefsAholic was indicted by a federal grand jury on Wednesday for a string of bank robberies, money laundering, and failing to report gambling earnings. He even fled his state when he was on house arrest after he found a way to remove his ankle monitor.
I’ve always wondered how some regular folks afford some of these expensive season tickets but I guess we know the answer. You just need to commit crimes*.
He hasn’t been given a sentence yet but I hope they don’t punish him by taking away TV time when the Chiefs are on.
NBA Schedule Released
The NBA has released the full 2023-2024 schedule and we’ve got some great matchups in the early season.
Oct. 24: The LA Lakers will have the opportunity to spoil the Denver Nuggets’ Championship ring ceremony with a season opener in Denver. This game will be followed up with a Phoenix Suns vs Golden State Warriors matchup.
Oct. 25: #1 overall draft pick, Victor Wembanyama will make his NBA debut against the Dallas Mavericks
Oct. 26: LeBron and KD will face off when the Lakers host the Suns
Oct. 27: The Miami Heat and Boston Celtics face each other after an epic Eastern Conference Finals in the past year’s playoffs.
Christmas Day: We’re getting more than presents on Christmas. We get a Lakers vs Celtics matchup and Warriors vs Nuggets matchup.
We’ve got on eyes on the Nuggets, Suns, Lakers, Warriors, Heat, and Celtics. Who else is going to surprise the league next year? Will the Bucks get back to the top? Are the 76ers a contender? We’ll find out in a few months!
Sneakers Go Missing Before The Game
New York Liberty star player Sabrina Ionescu had her shoes stolen from the Las Vegas Aces’ arena before their Thursday night matchup.
She had her shoes with her in the arena on Tuesday night, locked them up, and then when she returned for shoot-around on Thursday, they were gone.
Ionescu wasn’t too upset, she just wanted her insoles back. If you’ve ever had to play a game in fresh kicks, you know exactly why she wanted the insoles.
Anyways, the shoes are still missing, and the theft remains a mystery.
I do have to say that while the shoes are kind of plain… I think I really like the look. Do they come in size 13?

NFL Preseason
Thursday Night Football
The Browns and Eagles tied last night in their week 2 preseason matchup. The final score was 18-18.
The Eagles had two players suffer head/neck injuries that required them to be carted off of the field. Both players were able to move the extremities but it’s still a sad sight as players are fighting for roster spots in the preseason. WR Tyrie Cleveland went down after he landed head-first on a diving catch attempt and DT Moro Ojomo suffered a neck injury on the other side of the ball. Ojoma had made some impressive plays in the first preseason matchup and was selected in the 7th round of this year’s draft. Cleveland was lining up to grab a WR5 spot on the team, hopefully, he can recover quickly.
Friday Night Football
We’ve got two games tonight to check out.
Carolina Panthers at New York Giants, 7 pm ET on NFL Network
Cincinnati Bengals at Atlanta Falcons, 7:30 pm ET (check out one of the big 4 in your area to watch)
PGA Tour’s BMW Championship
Golfers were delayed in the opening round of the BMW Championship when some inclement weather rolled through Chicago but the conditions warmed up and it was a nice day for some play.
Brian Harman shares the lead at 5 under with Rory McIlroy after Rory had a miraculous up and down yesterday.
Just @McIlroyRory things ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

… just how you draw it up!
We’re bound to have some more fun on Friday as 27 other golfers sit at even par or better and it’s already looking like a beautiful day in Illinois.
You can stream today’s round on ESPN+ when players tee off at 9:26 am ET and then coverage will begin on the Golf Channel at 2 pm ET.
You have permission to leave early today. Enjoy those happy hours!
Cheers,
