No Playoffs?

Happy Wednesday. This is the Daily Breakroom and it’s the first day without a playoff game in quite a while. Sometimes we all need a break from sports, so go play some golf, shoot some hoops in the driveway, or go to the movies… But if you still need your fixing, we got you.

Let’s get to it.

What To Watch Today

We’ve got some great action in the MLB today. Here are some games worth watching.

  • Texas Rangers at Detroit Tigers, 1:10 pm ET on local channels

  • Cincinnati Reds at Boston Red Sox, 7:10 pm ET on ESPN+

  • Philadelphia Phillies at New York Mets, 7:10 pm ET on local channels

  • New York Yankees at Seattle Mariners, 9:40 pm ET on local channels

🎾 French Open 🎾

We’ve got the second round of the ATP French Open today. Check out the action from 5am-3pm ET on the Tennis Channel. There will also be coverage on NBC from 11am-3pm ET.

Coaches And Players On The Move

We’ve been so caught up with playoffs we haven’t talked about too many coaches and players moving around. Plus, we’ve had some news come up in the last 24.

  • Golden State Warriors’ General Manager and President of basketball operations is stepping down after 11 years with the franchise.

  • Former UNC guard Caleb Love planned to transfer from North Carolina to Michigan but he faced some admissions issues. Love has now committed to the University of Arizona.

  • The Nashville Predators have fired Head Coach John Hynes after four seasons and are hiring Andrew Brunette to replace him. Brunette led the Preds to the President’s Trophy last season as an interim head coach. The President’s Trophy goes to the team with the most regular season points in the NHL.

  • Nick Nurse has been hired by the Philadelphia 76ers to lead a championship-caliber Sixers team after losing his job in Toronto earlier this year. Nurse led the Raptors to a 2019 NBA Championship.

  • An assistant to Nick Nurse in Toronto, Adrian Griffin has been named the head coach of the Milwaukee Bucks. Griffin is a former NBA player, was an assistant when the Raptors won the 2019 title and he also coached other superstars as an assistant for the USA during the 2014 FIBA World Cup.

That’s all for today. Enjoy your Wednesday.
