No quit in the playoffs

Today's Estimated Reading Time: 3 minutes and 43 seconds

Morning!

We're a day away from the PGA Championship and we have game 5’s and some teams avoiding elimination. To top of the week, we have the Preakness Stakes on Saturday so this week is shaping up to be a good one.

Plus

There’s no quit in these playoffs by any team.

Let’s check out what’s going on in under 4 minutes.

The Knicks Deliver at MSG

Jalen Brunson scored 44 points last night in a huge swing game win for the New York Knicks who now have a 3-2 lead in the series against the Indiana Pacers. The final was score was 121-91 and it was a dominant performance by NY for the most of the game. This game more than just about Jalen Bruson, it was about “heart”. Sorry, not heart, but rather, Hart.

Josh Hart scored 18 points and had 11 rebounds last night, and Isaiah Hartenstein had 7 points, but his biggest contribution was his 17 rebounds last night.

NYPD had to get a search party going because because Tyrese Haliburton was nowhere to be found after he only scored 13 points and has hardly been impactful this entire series.

Game 6 is heading to Indiana!

p.s. Did you know Jalen Bruson is the first player to have 40 points in five playoff games in a single postseason since LeBron in 2018? That was when the Cavs won the finals, and we’re only in the 2nd round.

MVP shows off at home

Nikola Jokic got his MVP award last night and then put up a 40 burger on the the T-Wolves. Minnesota couldn’t get Karl Anthony Towns or Rudy Gobert to shut down Jokic, and now Minnesota is on the brink of elimination after starting this series of 2-0 on the road.

We’ve got game 6 heading back to Minnesota. Can the T-Wolves get back to their physical play and will Anthony Edwards show up in the biggest moment? I hope so because we want a game 7 in this one.

Oilers vs Canucks

The Oilers vs Canucks is turning into what we expected.. an epic series. This game went down to the wire after the Canucks were without Carson Soucey, who was suspended for a nasty illegal crosscheck to Connor McDavid after game 3 ended. The two teams battled it out last night for 59 minutes, and the game-winner was scored in the final 60 seconds of the matchup.

B’s live another day

Jeremy Swayman made 28 big saves for the Boston Buins last night as the B’s defeated the Florida Panthers 2-1 and have forced a game 6 back to Boston. We’ll see if Boston can avoid being eliminated at home and force a game 7 back to Florida.

One way or the other, the city of Boston should be happy knowing they have a pretty good chance that one of their teams will advance to the Eastern Conference Finals.

What else is going on?

🏀 Caitlin Clark had her regular season debut for the WNBA and led the Indiana Fever in points. Although the Fever lost to the Connecticut Sun, Clark had an impressive start, scoring 20 points but having 10 turnovers. Clark is already drawing a crowd for the WNBA. This game was sold out for the first time since the Sun’s first home game in 2003.

⛳️ The PGA Championship is teeing off tomorrow, and there’s some big news. Scottie Scheffler had his baby, and he’s ready to go. Rory McIlroy had filed for divorce from his wife, per reports. Many think Rory is ready to go on a tear now. We’ve got some great tee times that include LIV golfers like Brooksy, Phil, Taylor Gooch, DJ, Jon Rahm and more. We’ll drop that info tomorrow!

p.s. Tiger is playing in his 2nd Major this year. Let’s hope he can stay healthy and in the hunt.

🏈 The NFL is releasing the full 2024 schedule tonight but as a teaser they let us know who’s playing in the international games. We already knew the Eagles and Packers were playing in a Brazil game on September 6th. We’ve got 3 more London games where the Jets will face the Vikings, and then the Jaguars will have back-to-back matchups in London where they play the Bears and Patriots. There will also be one Germany game where the Giants play the Panthers.
